Reverend fathers, particularly within the Roman Catholic Church, do not marry due to several historical and theological reasons:
Celibacy Tradition:
Priestly celibacy is deeply rooted in tradition, although it is not an absolute dogma.
The practice of celibacy allows priests to focus entirely on their pastoral duties and emulate Jesus, who was unmarried.
While celibacy is not explicitly mandated by the Bible, it has become a longstanding practice within the Church.

Early Church Practices:
In the early Church, married priests existed, but celibacy was also highly esteemed.
The New Testament acknowledges both marriage and virginity as valid paths.
However, by the Middle Ages, some priests treated their calling as a “family business,” favoring their sons for influential positions.
To address this, the Church formally banned priests from marrying about 1,000 years ago.

Spiritual Significance:
Priests are called to act as “another Christ”, which includes living a celibate lifestyle.
Their commitment to celibacy reflects their dedication to God and the Church. A few exceptions exist, such as married Catholic priests who converted from other denominations or Eastern Rite priests who can marry before ordination.

Current Discussions:
While priestly celibacy remains a firmly rooted tradition, there have been discussions about its flexibility.
Pope Francis’ administration has considered the issue, but no significant changes have been implemented so far.

All in all, the decision for reverend fathers not to marry is multifaceted, combining historical practices, theological beliefs, and the desire to serve God and the Church wholeheartedly

Yes, in 1 Cor. 7 Paul explains that he is celibate and that it is a gift from God.
That for some, it is good to marry because of their sexual desire, so that they will not sin through sexual immorality, but instead fulfill those desires within marriage.
Then, singleness can also be good for other people: "I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided" (1 Corinthians 7:32–34).

Dat one na "concession (preference) , not command" (1 Corinthians 7:6).
