Irked and worried by the constant failure of the West Africa Exams Council of the Senior secondary schools by many students of Adamawa, failing in Joint Admission and matriculation board, the university entry exams, an Education enthusiast, Hon Umar Sanda Iya organized a five days workshop for teachers in the Northern Senatorial District of the State.

He attributes the lack of computer-based knowledge of both the teachers and students as contributing to the failure of many of the Sons and Daughters in the state who are qualified and good enough to join any of the civil service, military, or paramilitary work in the country.

According to him, the essence is to support the present Government of Adamawa State under the able leadership of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the Governor with the vision to transform the state in many fields of endeavor.

He said the government of Adamawa State has built and furnished many schools with computers but teachers and students lack requisite knowledge of how to use the computer systems and appliances are becoming damaged and obsolete.

He appraised the government for making giant efforts for Adamawa indigenes to succeed and academically compute well anywhere they are.

Sanda who is also a business Man and politician said it become paramount for him to give back to society with the little God has blessed him with to impact humanity in the area of Education.

While calling on well-meaning and high-spirited organizations, individuals, especially those from Adamawa Northern Senatorial District join hands with the present administration of Fintiri in making education a priority.

The workshop on Equipping Teachers for Inclusive Practices through the use of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, the Katukan Gulak on Monday flagged off the training with a hundred teachers cutting across the five Local Government areas of the Northern Senatorial District as beneficiaries.

The teachers who are twenty from each local government area of Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Michika, and Madagali were trained during the workshop on "Equipping Teachers to Make Creative Computing Accessible."

Stakeholders in education representing the five Local Governments including traditional rulers (Lawan Duhu), Pastors, Imams, Principals of both private and public schools, head teachers of primary schools, and local government council officials were in attendance in appreciation of Sanda's efforts.

Sanda in an interview with our Yola correspondent charged Community Leaders, and other critical stakeholders on education to make computer education a success because he lack of it is drawing their wards and children backward.

While thanking the Governor of Adamawa State for the successes recorded in different parts of the State, especially in the area of road infrastructures, innovative education, security, and human capital development of the state civil service, Sanda called on him to as a matter of urgency to employ more teachers and give priority to those who are ICT compliance and those who have the knowledge of computer in all the secondary schools in the state.

"We have brilliant students, they abound in al our communities and schools but because many of them are lacking of computers knowlege and exposure to ICT-based exams, they always hit a rock and become demoralized in pursuing their dreams.

"Just recently many of our young ones went for Police enrollment but they could not succeed because of their little knowledge of computers. I think government at all levels must embark on awareness and training of the teachers in this regard." Sanda said
