Guide About Sports Clothing Manufacturing Process by carloswest(m): 10:31am On Apr 24
Manufacturing clothes is pervasive and massively significant in the textile industry. Sports clothing is essential because it requires more focus, hard work, dedication, and creativity. The process is vast and divided into different steps:

1- Designing: Based on the product idea.
2- Sampling: manufacturing of prototype.
3- Bulk Production: Manufacturing the final product based on the sample’s approval.
4- Packaging: Packing the products.
5- Delivery: Delivering the goods to the address.

This is just a fraction of what manufacturers do. Much more can be discussed to guide the sportswear manufacturing process.

Step-by-Step Production Process of Sports Clothing

The role of sportswear production companies is huge since their skillful work is the only thing helping brands evolve in the textile industry. So, gym clothing manufacturers and suppliers with advanced means of tailoring and crafting products can significantly impact your sportswear lines. Now, let’s dive into the sports clothing manufacturing process details.

1- Design / Product Development

The first thing in the sportswear manufacturing process is product development based on the idea of the product. So, the design is prepared first. The client provides the manufacturer with the design ideas. Then, the manufacturing company responds with tech packs and mockups.

2- Tech packs and Mockups

Tech packs consist of the product’s technical details, such as logo dimensions, printing, and every tiny detail that will be applied to the actual product. Mockups are digital visual representations of real products that give the customer an idea of how the products will look.

3- Design Approval

The customers then approve the designs and proceed further with the process. In case of any alterations in the designs or details, the customers requests for redo or alterations. In that case, the manufacturers comply with the needs of the clients and resend the digital documents.

4- Fabric Sourcing

This is the step in which the manufacturer sources fabric according to the products’ or customers’ requirements. For example if the suppliers are making compression t-shirts then they would choose polyester, lycra, or dri-fit materials.

5- Sampling

The company then creates samples or prototypes of the products to deliver them to the clients for approval. Samples are necessary to ensure the quality, dimensions, fabric, finishing, shape, and color.

The clients’ approve or disapprove the samples based on their requirements. If the samples are approved then the production process will move onto the next step. If not, then the manufacturer will apply changes and resend the samples to the buyer.

Sampling process

Here is the sampling process in steps:
* Design Sketching
* Pattern Making
* Addition of Materials
* Visual representation of the sample given to the buyer
* Approval of sample based on customer feedback

6- Cutting

The manufacturers use advanced laser cutting machines to scan the fabric sheets and cut them according to the products’ dimensions. This phase is carried out by the machines and workers who operate the machines if needed. There are other methods like hand cutting that involve tailors cutting the fabric sheet by hand using a long, massive table.

Cutting is the step where markers and patterns are also created other than the dimensions. The experts take care of each and every detail of the product and work accordingly.

Once the cutting part is completed, the next step is sewing.

7- Sewing

Sewing requires various sewing machines for different purposes because the clothes are crafted in multiple ways. In order for sewing to take place, distinct pieces of material are joined together in the exact manner a piece of cloth is supposed to be sewn.

The process of sewing is carried out according to certain factors like machine type, thread quantity, needle type, needle size, production capability, and worker’s capacity. This entire sewing part is a very crucial step since there is no chance of mistakes if we want to avoid wasting the threads, fabric, and other essential clothing elements.

8- Completion of The Product

When the sewing part is done, the tailors give the products a final check to see if any part of the finishing needs to be completed.

9- Quality Check

The team of designers, tailors, and technical experts separately check the quality of the clothes. In this process, they look at the details like finishing, printing, quality, texture, and all the elements before sending it to the following department.

If the quality of the clothes is not according to the approved samples, then the quality control process begins.

10- Quality control

In this phase, the entire team checks for flaws in the clothes again and rectifies them. Even if a single piece of cloth is damaged or flawed, it gets repaired immediately.

11- Packaging

Once the sewing is done as per the client’s requirements, the bulk product packaging begins. In this process, each and every product is carefully packed in special boxes so that they don’t get damaged during delivery.

12- Delivery

The last step is delivery. Some manufacturing companies provide doorstep delivery, whereas others deliver them to the delivery stations or outlets located near the delivery addresses.
