iLoveYouToo:
Is it the government that fixes the price if Garri? Abi dey import cassava now?
Use your head for Pete's sake! Cost to harvest, process, transport, and even market those farm goods, even store them, are not paid for with stones. They are paid for with currency and right now your government was caught diddling with the value of that very currency. This na business 101 which every Nigerian ought to have realized by now. undecided

I hear you sir, chief economist. Garri is processed at Obubra on a massive scale , do you know the distance from Obubra to Calabar? Does that justify the price? Why is Garri cheaper in Lagos?

Na we dey do ourselves, yet we keep justifying shit

It has never been this bad before. Garri now N250 a cup?

Is this not a direct attempt to achieve mass death?

How much is it in your area?

When herdsmen were killing farmers and all of us looked away, what do you think will happen
Re: We Are Dying In Calabar. A Cup Of Garri Is Now N250. Who Do Us? by deji17: 4:26pm On Apr 24
Is it that there is no rain or fertile land in Calabar that people cannot plant Cassava, even at subsistence level to feed themselves or a case of Laziness? We condone indolence in this country and to our detriments too.
Re: We Are Dying In Calabar. A Cup Of Garri Is Now N250. Who Do Us? by deji17: 4:29pm On Apr 24
You will start hearing herdsmen as excuse now.
Obun ri iku oko ti ran mo. They found a convenient alibi in Herdsmen.

It's not the government.

The women go to the farm to buy Cassava.
The farmer tells the women "dollar has increased" so he won't be selling Pickup truck @110,000
He will sell Cassava pickup @130,000.
That is a #20000 increment on the old price.

The women decide to buy it like that since they have no option, they fry the Gari and sell it to retailers.

The retailers are surprised about the price the women are selling Gari in bulk..
They decide to buy it like that since they have no option.

They then decided to add the cost of shop, transportation, feeding, children school fees, security expenses and others bills on the cost of garri grin grin

It's the people themselves and not the government. Nigerian government is not regulating the price of foodstuffs. The people themselves control it

Because Obubra to Calabar is closer than Calabar to Lagos, you reason, rather naively, that should equally mean garri should be cheaper in Calabar than in Lagos?🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

Farmers are really tormenting Nigerian in urban areas! If you reside in a rural area with land, and Fulani terrorists aren't disturbing you, and you're complaining about expensive garri, you're very lazy.

I AGREE WITH YOU, CASSAVA IS THE EASIEST THING TO GROW AND DOES NOT NEED GOOD SOIL, FERTILIZER, MAINTENANCE LIKE WEEDING ETC BUT FARMERS DON SCARCE EVERYBODY NA BENZ AND DORIME. MAKE WE BUY AM 10K PER CUP. LAZY YOUTHS, UNSERIOUS LEADERS, SEE THEM BUT NONE COMPLAINED OF BUYING A SIMPLE DEVICE CALLED IPHONE FOR OVER 1 MILLION NAIRA.

Calabar no get farm. You must be confusing Calabar with the northern cross river state. The average calabar man/woman is typically lazy and proud with shakara all over them. Beyond acquiring my first degree from there, my mom is also from there so I know them inside out.

Make your local government employ the local youths with their security votes money, to handle insecurity with help from Nigeria police officials.

Security must emanate from the grassroots, not the state capital.
