Professor Adebowale Ojo, Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo State, has passed away. The sad news was confirmed on Tuesday following a successful surgery at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, expressed shock and sorrow upon receiving the news.

In a statement released by the Registrar of the institution, Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, it was revealed that Professor Ojo, who was on sabbatical at the university, held the position of Dean at the time of his passing. Prior to his tenure at Emmanuel Alayande University, he was associated with Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, where he served as a Professor of Education Evaluation and two-term Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education.

Professor Ojo's academic journey was marked by significant achievements, having obtained undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Education from reputable institutions such as the University of Ilorin, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan. He also contributed his expertise as a member of various governing bodies, including the Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education and the Governing Board of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.

With a career spanning over four decades, Professor Ojo's dedication to education was evident in his rise from Chief Lecturer to Professor, culminating in his appointment as the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education. His contributions to academia and administration will be remembered fondly by colleagues and students alike.

As the university mourns the loss of a respected scholar and leader, the Vice Chancellor extended heartfelt condolences to Professor Ojo's family, praying for the repose of his soul and offering support during this difficult time.
