10 year-old boy wakes to discover his father killed himself, his mother, and 3 brothers in a murder-suicide

The only person alive from the murder-suicide that claimed the lives of his whole family is a 10-year-old boy.

When the youngster got up, his father—who is said to be the reason behind the deaths—as well as his mother and three brothers were all dead.

Why 42-year-old Jonathan Candy killed his wife Lindsay, 39, and his boys, Lucas, 12, Ethan, 14, and Dylan, 18, is unknown, as is the reason he spared his youngest child.

Sergeant Gary Knight said that the boy called 911 saying he had just woken up and found their bodies.

The motive of the shooting on the 2800 block of Mirage Street in Oklahoma City, USA, remains unknown.

It is believed the parents had an argument late on Sunday night, April 21, or early on Monday morning, April 22.

Sgt Knight said: “At some point he armed himself with a gun, he shot her multiple times, killing her.

“At that point he systematically went through the home shooting and killing the children.”

When police arrived, he described the scene as “carnage.”

He said: “Make no mistake about it, what happened in that residence was nothing short of a massacre.”

Cops said they do not doubt the boy saying that he slept through the shooting. He called cops shortly after 9.30am.

Sgt Knight said: “The door (to his room) was closed and there was a box fan running. There is no indication he didn’t sleep through it.”

He was not injured and is under the care and custody of relatives.

The family had no previous contact with law enforcement or history of domestic violence, and there had been no police calls to their home, according to Knight.

“It remains a mystery as to what caused Mr Candy to murder his wife and three of his children,” stated a police report.

The police should make sure the boy did not kill his family. There have been cases of kids killing everyone in their families. They were not suspected because they were so young. However, after some years, the truth came out.

It will take a whole lot of skill for a 10 year old to shoot his entire family dead and frame his father for it. You think the police won't have investigated the gunshot wounds to know who actually pulled the trigger? Even if a shooter takes a bath and change clothes, he would still have some gunshot residue left one his body.

There’s a station on tv that shows real crimes. You will be shocked at what the mind can conceive. He could have killed them while they were sleeping. Then tell a story of how he was sleeping.

I've watched a series on discovery ID called when children kill, I'm sure the authorities are very well aware of what some children are capable of and would have taken their time to erase all doubts. A seasoned crime scene investigator would have have assessed the scene and come up with a possible scenario at first glance. Do you think they randomly picked the father as the perpetrator based on hunches or what the child said?

Land of the free for all guns on the beat again. Reminds me of a murder suicide story I watched on YouTube that happened about a century ago in the 1920s- The Lawson family massacre. The father sent the oldest son on errand and went on to kill the rest of the family and then himself. People said he left out that one son to keep the family name going and true to this day, he still has living descendants. That could be the reason this mentally deranged father left the one son not caring about the trauma the boy will live with for the rest of his life.

Since you’ve watched some of these documentaries, then you’d know that they rarely suspect a child of mass murder. They end up staring the horror in the face when the proof they have can’t be denied. Finally the child confesses and they send said child to a mental home.
