Prisoners Escape As Rainstorm Destroys Custodial Centre In Niger by Nemere2020: 11:12pm On Apr 24
An unspecified number of inmates have escaped from the old Suleja Correctional Centre in Suleja local government area of Niger State following a rainstorm that destroyed the facility on Wednesday night.

A storm accompanied by heavy rain around 9pm destroyed parts of the old Suleja custodial centre, a development that led to many of the inmates escaping from the facility.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the rainstorm destroyed parts of the building and exposed the inner fence of the facility that hitherto was protecting one of the cells where inmates were kept.

A resident of Suleja town, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said: “The incident is true, we helped to arrest two of the inmates and handed them over to the prison authorities.”

Re: Prisoners Escape As Rainstorm Destroys Custodial Centre In Niger by TOPCRUISE(m): 3:59am On Apr 25
It's not the fault of the inmates at all. Because they did not do any jail break. Neither did they gang up together to fight their way out. The rain storm open prison door, prison window and break the dilapidated prison wall for them to come out from prison to walk out and enjoy freedom and they did.
The inmates did not commit any crime here It's the Authorities that failed to configure and renovate the dilapidated prison are the criminals.

Their priority for now should be to fix the prison. Thereafter, they can go in search of those prisoners that escaped. If there’s no prison then no re-arrest should be made
