Good morning everyone.
I checked this platform, Bitnob app at 5am this morning and their sales rate was #1450/USD

I just logged in now and I am seeing #1758/USD as sales rate while #1326/USD is stated as their buying rate.

Update: They have reduced their sales rate to #1448/USD few minutes ago

What is very simple. Government should set trap from them. Get their account detail and trace them. Pick them up and lock in the DSS underground cell.just for 6 months. When the person comes back, he or she will only have time to be visiting hospital for one test or the other for at least 5 years

Was there anything tangible that reduced the rate from 1900 to almost 1000 before?

There is nothing wrong in defending your currency. Virtually every opec or mono product economy does it but cbn prefers to act like Nigeria is different. That they can take on the Dollars in forex markets

govt is just toying with your brains if you think they are doing the right thing. they knew all along that what they were doing is wrong and that by pushing out dollars won't save the naira. go and check the majority of all those who bought the cheap dollars, i am sure you will be shocked to find out that the majority of them are politicians in govt. DEFENDING THE NAIRA WITH FOREIGN RESERVES WON'T SAVE THE NAIRA, THEY KNOW IT, THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION IS THEN "WHY DID THEY WASTE OVER 2 BILLION DOLLARS IN 4 WEEKS DEFENDING THE NAIRA "?

how can you say you want to bring down the fx rate when you are still importing everything you are using, from fuel to food? you have to boost production first, reduce importation and get jobs for people, reduce your dependency on importation then start defending the currency.
we know that Dangote refinery is the only hope this govt is banking and waiting on, to reduce fuel importation. which is not bad but they should work and look at the agric sector, construction, aviation, power generation, and distribution, when all these facts are worked upon and the security of lives, businesses, and properties is improved, there won't even be any need to defend any naira before it picks up by itself.

The largest chunk of our forex goes to fuel importation.

With that off the table the Naira will rise sharply once and for all.

The owner of this app should be located and shot!!! angry

i quite agree about the fuel importation impact on the nation's fx situation, it seems the reason the FG decided to embark on defending the naira was that Dangote refinery said they were starting PMS supply in late May, most likely the FG had planned to bring the dollar rate down to meet that period but now that Dangote refinery has said that PMS supply will only start in the last quarter of the year, it is obvious the fg can't keep defending the naira with billions of dollars till then,
i won't be surprised if fx rate goes back to 1600.1700
