NUC Visits Entrepreneurship, Linkages and SIWES Centres at MCIU.
In a move that underscores the commitment to fostering innovation and practical learning in Nigerian universities, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently undertook a visit to Michael and Cecilia Ibru University. Spanning from April 14 to 16, 2024, this visit targeted the university's Entrepreneurship Development Centre, University-Industry Linkage Office, Advancement Office, and Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Unit.

The purpose of this visit was twofold: to meticulously review the establishment of these critical units in accordance with NUC directives, and to ensure the seamless integration of structures conducive to fostering holistic growth and development among students.

It should be noted that Michael and Cecilia Ibru University emerged as one of the select 40 universities chosen for this prestigious evaluation. This selection was based on the university's track record in pioneering initiatives in Entrepreneurship, Linkages, and SIWES.

Led by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ibiyinka Fuwape, the university's planning committee guided the NUC delegation through a comprehensive tour of the campus. From the administrative offices of the designated units to the entrepreneurship hubs, such as the bakery, tailoring workshop, hair salon, and the newly initiated Cassava Farming Project, the team showcased the university’s endeavours.

Coinciding with the NUC visit was the launch of the MCIU Cassava Farming Project, a bold step towards bolstering the university's commitment to food security initiatives. This underscored the institution's dedication to practical learning but also highlighted its proactive stance in addressing food security.

As Michael and Cecilia Ibru University continues to spearhead pioneering efforts in education and enterprise, this visit by the NUC stands as a testament to the university's unwavering pursuit of excellence and relevance in the Nigerian academic landscape.
