I applied for a scholarship and during this application the passport no was imputed, the no of years remaining was 1 year 7months, but now will this affect me when I have to go for my visa application, because the intended no of years for the study is 3 years. Will it affect my being granted the visa?

Shi I renew the passport now and apply with that or use the present 1, I have been advised to renew since the data page will show the previous passport no.
I have 1 year 2 months validity presently.

I want to believe the previous passport is still your property.

no it won't, but you can consider the expenses it would cost you to renew in your country of destination. My opinion if they would renew for you, because by law less than six months validity is when you should renew. Just do a 10 yrs passport renewal and save your self the expenses of renewing abroad.
