Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced on Thursday that civil servants in the state have been receiving a minimum wage of N70,000 since January.

In addition to this, his administration has been providing workers with an extra N35,000 wage allowance since the beginning of the year.

During a function, the governor reassured the workers that his administration would soon implement a new minimum wage scheme.

He emphasized that the wage allowance has significantly increased the earnings of those who were already earning a minimum of N35,000 or more, as they are now earning over N70,000.

Sanwo-Olu also highlighted that his government has taken proactive measures to support the citizens during these challenging times, including the distribution of food items to 500,000 households through unions and local governments.

Furthermore, the governor mentioned the ‘Ounje Eko’ Initiative, which offers discounted prices for food items in 59 makeshift markets established across the state’s local government and local council development areas, ensuring accessibility for the residents.
