Good day nairalanders. So this is a true story of my life and i am currently having mixed feelings maybe your comments will make me have a peace of mind (Hopefully)

Back then in school (IMSU) I had this roommate called Juliet ( not real name). For those who attended IMSU you will know that Hookup was full blown even before other Universities got acquainted with it. I look at Young girls doing it now and i just smile.

Anyways back to the story, this roommate of mine never lacked anything. Was it groceries, expensive hair, Phones, laptops etc , you name it. And this girl was from a poor background. I know her parents.

Rich Guys have rented very expensive apartments for her more than three times but she still chose to be roommates with me so as to chop their money and have savings.

I know you guys will be expecting a sad ending for her but this is not Nollywood. Presently she visits countries around the world like Dubai, Paris, London, LA , New York, Greece etc like breeze. I saw this girls posts and story on Instagram and couldn't believe my eyes.

However me back then was hoping on love and was dating a broke guy back then who later got me pregnant and i was refusing advances from very rich older men as an understanding girlfriend and wife to be ( foolish me) . Doing all the chores for this boy who later dumped me and the child as soon as he graduated and moved overseas. Since we graduated, this guy has never asked of my welfare nor sent a kobo to me for the upkeep of our "daughter".

Right now even to feed is a difficulty not to talk of accomodations.

So Nairaland people was i foolish to believe in Love at the expenses of a good life?

Thanks for reading this far.

I will really appreciate your responses. God bless

I still have a lot of info but let me stop here for now.

It is life and choice you made.

People always forget that not everyone's destiny are the same.

She did hook up and all that and is living a good life as you saw her posting on social media and poor you is left with a baby right?

It could have been worse for you had it been you joined her maybe.

We should learn to be contended in life. That is key

Doing bad things and getting away with it doesn't mean it's good. I don't see any difference between the two of you. One is high-class olosho and the other low class olosho so all is olosho. You should have just focus on what you were sent to school to do, face your studies alone. You wouldn't have been in this predicament you're in now.

If this story is true.

One thing people don't understand is that success is on people, and not on what they do.

Let's flip your lifestyle.
If your friend had been the decent one and you had been the immoral one. Your friend would still have been "successful" and you'd still be broke up till this day.

If you realized I put the word "successful" in quotes. It means, your friend may appear successful, but is she really successful? Do you know whether she has any sicknesses or diseases that she's battling?
But fines pictures at fine spots are your own criteria for a successful lifestyle.

It's too early to determine who is truly successful.
My people go talk say "Person wey never die never know the kind death wey go kill am".

The end justifies the means.

What I think u should do at the moment is to think of a business and try and raise capital from friends and family while still looking for a job. U can even contact your said boyfriend overseas to assist u with capital that I won't disturb him again or contact him again for anything.

Concerning your hook-up rommie, such is life o. No formula for it. Being good or bad doesn't guarantee success. Besides that your roommate may possess other qualities that attract success that u may not know of too... Probably that's why she is successful in the business because I have seen other local very beautiful ashewo Wen dey stand for road too.

I hardly envy people expecially when I know their source of money is dirty. The end will never be good. Except by chance or grace the person repent, but the consequences will still linger around them.

Yes. It was kind of foolish for you to let him get you pregnant before marrying you.

You have more to loose as a woman if you have unprotected sex.

No, he didn't get you pregnant, you know what comes if you have unprotected sex. You allowed it to happen.

My dear.. You can't continue like this, while their are bad eggs out there,it doesn't mean people are not meeting the rightful people. You have to keep trying whilst praying. Life can turn around in minutes with the right people around. Cheers!

What's your point? Because she's a single mother, she shouldn't have her preference?

If you feel this way about single mothers, why then are you trying to get acquainted with her?

My dear op, simply because your present situation reflects what your decency has led you into, but I must say it is/was the best decision you must have ever made.....
A student who turned herself into a 'wife' for another student while in the university. How decent is that?

She was indecent, unsmart and unlucky at the same time. However, the child she has out of wedlock is better than the life her former roommate is living. She won't understand now until few years time.

It's not a mystery, it's a pretty simple phenomenon. How successful a person is, is not a function of how good or bad. In this context, 'success' involves finance.

Play your cards right and get the corresponding results. However, there is blessing that makes one glad, and there's another that adds sorrow.

Time will always tell.

Success is not materially based.

She might be ''successful'', but she has sold her soul, and her dignity, something after it is sold, can't be bought back. It's like saying pornstars are successful because some are millionaires, will you be a IndecentStar then? If the men stop bankrolling her, will you still consider her successful?

When you see life for what it is, you won't envy or be jealous of anyone. She visited many countries, and so what? Being a mother is a bigger success than being a public sperm depository.

You might think some people are bigger than you, but those people know what they sacrificed, have lost, and the price they paid to be there. You are judging them from the bias of your mind, from a very narrow-angle.

Try to read up on the full explanation of ''to gain the world but lose your soul''. Then you will appreciate having your peace, dignity, honour intact, instead of sacrificing it for something that if you ain't lazy, you can even achieve on your own.
