God made it clear to the Isrealites about this issue when he said to them

Exodus 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Idolatry is satanic worship, fellowships, covenants, curses, agreements , oaths, with man's ancestors , descendants and the devil.
it brings generations into bondages from time immemorial!!!
An idol is a demon or an evil spirit that occupies an image , statue or altars where people meet with it.
1 Corinthians 10:19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
The spirit of jealousy is predominant in idolaters family!
God himself who is the Creator does not demand his creatures to worship what he has created but him only!
Idolatry is an abomination of desolation any where.

Deuteronomy 7:1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

7:4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7:16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

7:25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.

7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Idolatry and idolatrous things are all an abomination to the lord.


Deuteronomy 12:2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

12:3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
it's unfortunate that many Christians who are born again have not yet been delivered from idolatrous bondages spiritually and they still remain in bondage to such demonic cultures, traditions, covenants, vain conversations, oaths sacrifices and altars of their ancestors and tribal backgrounds.
Luke 3:9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
This is why Jesus Christ said "Now the axe is laid on the root (foundation) of the tree(person).
...... beareth not good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire!
without deliverance from abominations, a Christian will be living a sinful life!
A Christian will not be able to serve God in fear(positive) Holiness and righteousness all the remaining days of. their lives!
Luke 1:71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
1:72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
1:73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
1:74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
1:75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

we cannot serve God in Spirit and in truth also without being delivered from the spiritual pollution's of Idolatry and spiritual adultery with gods and goddesses that defile one spiritually and make them abominable in God's sight!
The sacrifices are not to God but to devil's .

A Christian must definitely break soul ties, covenants, curses, oaths,agreements with idols and demons their ancestors have made and served from the 1st generation to the 4th so that they would be cleared.

Acts 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Acts 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

Spiritual Isreal just like physical Isreal, needs God's deliverance from Satan and his kingdom, covenants, curses, traditions , customs and cultures and ways and manners of wicked ways before they can become a royal priesthood, a holy nation...... etc

Idolatry has been the greatest shedder of blood through human sacrifices and animal sacrifices and sacrifices which are to demons and not to God.
when blood is shed, the land cries out for vengeance!
since many of the nations surrounding physical Isreal were serving idols, they became a snare to God's children.
God's warnings to the children of Isreal not to be drawn or seduced to serve idols is glaringly clear.

However, today idolatry has surpassed animate or inanimate things.
There are idols of the heart now inside people.
Anything one loves more than GOD the creator is an idol.
Anything we love more than God, anything we pay attention to than to God, anything we spend such longer time to than God is purely an idol in our heart.
