The south south leaders are to be blamed . Have the masses ever made anyone accountable for the 13% derivatives they receive ? Even the oil company consider people from the local communities while employing so abeg try explain to us how they’ve been abandoned. Gej had 6years opportunity to transform the place , he couldn’t even transform his village . Let’s sort the problem we have within first before requesting for anything cos it will still end in the hands of those gluttons

Oga leave 13% derivation who works on ports? Is it not the FG.

Till date Akwa ibom is still seeking the support of the FG for the full implementation of the ibom deep seaport.

Without the FG approval and every other documentations there's nothing the state government can do when it comes to seaports, it's under the exclusive list
Believe me, it's not about approval, the state governors are not pushing for it...see the way they push to share excess revenue etc...they rather pocket the money. I have never heard a state governor complaining or putting FG to task about failure to give them approval for ports, I have never heard, and I follow politics keenly.

What's wrong with the Onne seaport. You refused to use it. You spoke about poor schools, healthcare etc, what's the essence of the 13% derivation that's paid to your Governors? What happened to NDDC, that has become a pot for corruption.
Aside, this road is for the Oil producing State, What's wrong with this?

What is the capacity of the port in Onne? Let us first talk about that. Is it of the same size as Apapa and Tincan? Before you argue please get your facts.

I seriously don't understand the SS. With the amount they get in FG allocation and taxes from oil companies, these states should be the most developed and leading states in the country.

The state governors are the most unaccountable leaders in this country.

Once again understand that it is FG's responsibility to build roads and seaports not state governments.

Do you have some sense at all in this head of yours? What is Obi's link in this argument.

Why are you replying someone that is so DUMP not know that ONNE PORT in RIVERS state is one of busiest port in the country.

As if what they want is for the FG to bomb lagos and start a new lagos in Niger delta or Anambra!...I just don't understand all this conspiracy theory surrounding eastern port!

This is a region that worshipped PDP for 20yrs and still worshipping her.If PDP could not address the alleged Eastern port marginalization (which is a fluke anyway)for good 16yrs then they are the most stupid set of people in whole world!

You knowbyou are big liar. For one can you show us the yearly data of ships that berth into Onne and compare with the same yearly data of ship berthing in Apapa and Tincan. I hate people who lie a lot and are without scruples

State governors earn enough and has enough capacity to attract investors to build ports, but their lazy criminal heads rather think of how to steal public funds.

Calculate how much state government loot you will know that they can build 4 ports within 4 years if they want. Building ports is not rocket science.

Oga your argument is not sensible at all. In the first place it is FG that builds ports.

Nigerian politicians are all thieves, always bloating project figures. Are you scums taking this money to the afterlife?

I don't know how people will be stealing hundreds of billions, just to consume.

They use the money to secure the future of their children and grandchildren. You saw how Yahaya Bello paid his children school fees to the future. They also buy properties in the name of their children to secure their future.

MY TAKE ON THE ON-GOING LAGOS - CALABAR COASTAL ROAD ELEPHANT PROJECT.

Is it a coastal road that can be washed off by a Tsunami ? Is that the best of thinking that we can put up ?

Why not dredge the Niger and Benue that is criss crossing the nation for ships to navigate and therefore open up a big maritime business that would employ lots of people and better facilitate the movement of goods across the country . With concessioned terminals and ports across all the states that these 2 great heritage of the nation traverse, there would never be scarcity of goods in the nation again. Road accidents , tanker explosions, kidnapping on the highway etc would also be reduced significantly.

People can also be moved across these rivers with mini Titanic type beautiful ship as a means of transportation and tourism to complement the tourism businesses on the coast now being partly or totally destroyed...

And if you need to move some things by air, why not set up air cargo ports for small planes in the states that you want this road to pass as an alternative in conjunction with private investors ...

Why destroy an existing structure?

Why engage in an elephant project that would not be completed in 4 years ? Would this road give us more comparative advantage in terms of revenue inflows, job creation and economic revolution?

Imagine how billions of dollars would have come in to reduce and stabilise the exchange rate if the river ports and cargo ports I have mentioned above are privatised with Nigeria owning 51% of the shares across board? Imagine the inflow from tourism also?

It would have been a win win for all of the states in Nigeria and not just a few of them. Our GDP in the next 4 years would have hit over 1 trillion dollars placing us amongst the top 10 economies in the world !

The opportunity cost of this coastal road conundrum is the loss of an opportunity for the giant of Africa to rise once again!

What a pity.

We don’t give a Bleep about the looting pipe you guys are laying underground to loot our nation dry. Instead of to build a company that can employ unto 6-7,000 people to ease suffering and you guys are busy building a road that will never generate half of the money wasted on it… fools in government

Govt can no longer be building companies; it is foolhardy to still be championing that. All they can do is create an enabling environment.

Building of this road is such!

Dangote refinery benefited from govt support and its employing thousands. The successful completion of this road will generate massive economic activities along the corridor that will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

This is a road linking the new industrial area of Lagos, which has the biggest refinery in Africa, the Lekki deep sea port and the proposed Lekki International Airport. Accessing this international Airport from Bayelsa, Edo and Delta state will take just few hours by road.

The economic implications of this road if successfully completed and linking the proposed states is just to massive to imagine.

Glitcher:
The onne port is an inland port with all its limitations. Check the map of ports in west Africa, you will notice how the frequency of ports stops at Lagos. The NDDC and state government do not have the capacity to carry out some kind of projects due to the difference in cost and allocation. In addition it is the responsibility of the FG to build interstate roads and seaports. The Niger delta states have benefitted less than 1% of the wealth they have given the nation. Their underdevelopment may be a strategy to keep the place uninhabited due to pollution by the oil companies. The issue of destroying the natural environment is another issue. They have found oil in the north but they are not pumping the oil out, you know why? Because they know how it can damage their environment. So much is given by the Oil producing companies and little is given back. The oil producing communities are just foolish.

Now they want to build super highway to the place to encourage inhabitation and investment along the corridor and you are still complaining. 🤦🏽‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♂️
