It is DSTV that will approve minimum wage for your country?

The diesel they use to run their company in Nigeria is ten times cheaper than in Southafrica?

Kenya even pays more for DSTV subscription than Nigeria.

Is multi choice ripping off Nigerians ?
Let's even assume that most people are on premium subscription (which definitely is not the case), multi choice will just be getting a measily $26 per subscriber every month!!!!

Multi choice is not at fault here , rather it is the government that is making nigeria bad for business

implemented on the 1st of January 2019 at a level of 3,897
ZAR (259.27 USD) per month; this was later adjusted to
4,045.09 ZAR (269.25 USD) per month

In Nigeria, eating in a mamaput joint, normal restaurant, Sheraton hotel will not cost the same.

I don't understand why this DSTV should be a national topic. Anyone that can't afford DSTV should go for startimes or others.

It will be difficult for some people to manage startimes.

You can wake up tomorrow and get ripped by multichoice and the lawmakers will look elsewhere!

Lol! Please hike it and see how the alternatives begin to be patronised.

I just bought three free to air disc one for Movies, one for news and the other for sports. I don't even know much about it or how it works because my son introduced it to me. But it cost us 300k+ for purchase and installations. Started using since november and up till now, we've paid no dime for subs because there ain't any. I wonder why people can't just switch.

If Multichoice was a Nigerian company that never repatriate profits abroad and also operating in a competitive market.

Poor minimum wage of 30k in Nigeria means that Multichoice pay lesser on staff wages in Nigeria (part of cost of production) in Nigeria than in SA. One of the reasons why the charge here should be cheaper.

I doubt if DSTV pays any of its staff 30k per month. Most big private companies have better pay package.

In south Africa when it rains, dstv doesn't stop / hang. But in Nigeria, small rain everything stop embarassed

direct your anger to the government. DStv will not spend millions of dollars to acquire TV rights only to give it to Nigerians free. They're adjusting and operating with current economic realities

Firstly, If price of diesel is the cause of the hike then why hasn't MTN (same South African coy) increased their tarrif all these years?
But Dstv has increased over 3x since last year. By the way, Multichoice doesn't consume 1% of the amount of diesel MTN used in running thousands of it's antennas across the country.

Secondly, no matter what big private companies pays in Nigeria, as long as the pay is in naira, it can't march up what same position pays in South Africa when you convert both salaries in USD.

They are just giving filmsy excuses to exploit the huge population due to monopoly and poor govt oversight and poeple like you who give in easily are buying it with no scrutiny.

I don't use DSTV. The startimes I was managing last year, I abadoned it because it is wasteful subscribing when power supply is poor.
Choice! Cable tv is not a neccesity. There is no monopoly. Some people are obsessed with DSTV, there are alternatives.

How can you compare those who are on pay as you view, to we that pays a flat monthly rate? The comparism does not jell at all.. we have more subscribers than South Africa, so the spread of their expenses per viewers should be low in Nigeria.
