It's disheartening what the APC Government, in collaboration with compromised media houses like Punch Newspaper does to Nigerians. They deliberately spread misinformation to the people and yet threaten the most about regulating social media.

Financial rating isn't like your academic rating. B- is an extremely poor rating, a shortfall from junk status. Our economy has been rated B- by Fitch and instead of focusing on solving our economic challenges, the APC Government has decided to feed Nigerians with propaganda and bareface lies. There's nothing positive about a B- rating, it's classified as “Highly Speculative”, a diplomatic way of saying “Don't invest here, it's a Ponzi scheme”.

In academic parlance, this student scored F9 parallel and is ranked 16th out of 18 in his class but the APC Government is celebrating his failure because the principal said his future might be promising.

Here is the Fitch rating chart, tell me if you’ll invest in this economy as an investor.

I might, especially if the investment is a loan on which the interest charged would be high due to inherent risk.

And hopefully, you will default, which will increase the principal you owe on which you'd pay an increased interest since it's not like a country can file for bankruptcy.

I see your point with the fg spin, however.

It was Bloomberg that reported it and not necessarily Nigeria media like you blamed them.

Also, life itself is relative. You compare Nigeria to Nigeria in this which explained why Bloomberg themselves claimed Nigeria was raised from stable to positive.

While we can argue that we still have a long way to go, at least it is a step in the right direction. Can we do more ? Yes definitely.

Even fitch themselves carried the increase and mentioned the reason for this.

They also highlight what we could do for more growth and future raise. So where is the propaganda?

It doesn't matter if Bloomberg or Fitch reported it. If you ranked 18th out of 18 in your class in the last exam and 16th out of 18 in your recent exam, you have failed and shouldn't be celebrating regardless of any positive comments from the principal.

Nigeria is still ranked as a junk-status investment destination. What's positive about that?

Why go through all the trouble when you could just short the currency and make a killing like everyone else?

Calling that man a sycophant is putting it nicely. Sycophants aim to get some benefits but this man has been so affected by poor Govt policies that his wife now uses charcoal-pot to cook concoction rice but he's still happily supporting the Govt.

But if Nigeria rank 16th before and dropped to 18, you and your fellow bitter soul will curse Nigeria for dropping.

Fitch the body that rates said Nigeria outlook look better compared to before, so why should we listen to a nobody on Nairaland trying to downgrade Nigeria?

Some Bitter Obi supporters have started already up there being bitter with the positive rating. They are happier when Nigeria is rated negatively. Bitter people !

Diversification. I've already shorted the currency, and even hedged it into the loan I gave you, but the currency goes up and down, so my killing isn't guaranteed, unlike the long-term interest payments from your B- rating which was guaranteed. And hopefully you'd default or renegotiate because you can't pay so I make even more.

The only annoyance, as far as my portfolio is concerned, is now that you've gone from 18th out of 18 to 16th, I'd have to charge you less interest on future loans. angry

We know say some of you guys would definitely have issue with that development news

Nigeria was already rated by Fintech but with low grades, our recent debt servicing without delay improved the grades not just from Fitch but other reputable financial institutions.

Hating one's country progress is the beginning of becoming a witch

Bro, in Apostle Sule's voice, some of them are just evil.

Why should they be wishing this government to fail just because their principal loss in an election and yet they are thinking they can personally progress inside that same country, ko possible

Except Nigeria's status did not improve from the 18th to the 16th. Nigeria has been consistently ranked 16th of 18 (B-) for the past 2 years. We have made no significant progress whatsoever, rather, we have been downgraded thrice since the APC came to power. We have consistently dropped in ranking from BB- to B+ to B, and now B-, yet the illegitimate Govt wants us to celebrate failure. Attached is our 5 years ranking history from Fitch.

What exactly are you celebrating?

Excellent strategy, sir. You're a better investor than me. I'm not sure I'll be able to match your risk appetite.
