✍🏾Amina has a big Dream

It’s late in the night and the stars are on a short break but inside the little room, a young girl couldn’t sleep. Every where was pitch quiet and a little rave of fear was crippling in. But she shrugged it away. After all nothing is as fearful as knowing that I would not go to school for the next few days she muttered to her self.

With a deep sigh, she tried one more time to force herself to sleep by shutting her eyes tightly. She silently started to count the sheep and before long she gave in to Mother Nature. By morning, she woke up to her chores of sweeping, fetching water from down the stream and getting her younger siblings ready for school. After a quick breakfast, she walked them to school and stood by the school gate waving them off.

“Amina, are you not coming to school?” She turned around to see her classmate Hauwa running up to her. No Hauwa, I’m not. It’s my time of the month so I have to stay back home. I will be back next week Insha Allah, she muttered. Her friend gave her a hug “Masha Allah” as Amina slowly made her way back home.

In this small rural village in Nigeria, this bright young girl named Amina loved school more than anything else. Her dream was to become a Peadiatric Doctor and treat children, but every month, a challenge forced her to stay home from school. Without sanitary pads during her periods, Amina had no choice but to miss several days of learning, watching her dreams drift further away with each passing month.

Her parents, though hardworking, could barely afford daily necessities, let alone sanitary products. The disappointment in Amina’s eyes every month pained her mother, who wished for nothing more than to see her daughter succeed.

One day, a group called A Mum And More heard about the struggles of girls like Amina. They started The Girl and Her Pad Project, aimed at providing sanitary pads to girls in rural communities. When they arrived in Amina's village with boxes of pads, it was like a new chapter had begun.

With these pads, Amina no longer had to miss school. She could study consistently, participate in every class, and keep her dreams alive. It was not just Amina who benefitted; many other girls in her village now attended school regularly, their futures looking brighter.

As Amina sat under the wide, starry sky, she thought about how many more girls could be helped by The Girl and Her Pad project. She turned to her community and beyond, saying, "Please join me in supporting A Mum And More. With your help, we can provide pads to every girl who needs them. Your donations can change lives, keeping our dreams alive every month. Let's help every girl go to school without interruption."

Her heartfelt plea reached far and wide, urging people to donate and join the effort to make education accessible for every girl, no matter the time of the month.

Would you join us to keep girls Amina in school all through the year so that they can live to fulfill their childhood dreams and aspirations? Every little kobo counts. For as little as 1K Amina and her friends would grow to become the beacons of the society and make our Nation proud.
