Twenty five bodies recovered from Thursday’s violence in Barkin Ladi in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were yesterday given mass burial under the supervision of Mr. Pam Choji Pam, a councilor in the LGA who lost four children in the violence.

The Special Task Force (STF), the military squad responsible for security in the state, has paraded 157 suspects arrested in connection with the crisis.

Pam, while lamenting the death of his children said he has submitted everything to God. The burial took place amidst wailings as the victims were being lowered into the mass grave.

Barkin Ladi town was however deserted because of the curfew announced in the wake of violence as stern looking security personnel were only seen around.

But what could have resulted in a fresh tragedy was averted when the convoy of the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief Air Marshal Oluseyi Petirin, on Friday ran into students of the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, who were protesting the attack on some of their colleagues in the wake of the violence that erupted in the council area.

It was gathered that the soldiers in the convoy had to fire several shots into the air to disperse the mob, which had mounted road blocks. The defence chief was visiting trouble spots to assess the situation when the rampaging students stopped him.

Meanwhile Barkin Ladi Police Station is currently serving as a refugee camp for over five hundred displaced persons.

Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Loman, said it was a “deliberate plan to carry out an ethnic cleansing which is not going to work”. He said: “I really condemn this act, it is barbaric, I am not happy at all. Despite the effort of the state government, the perpetrators still carry out their wicked act. It is high time this nonsense stopped. Gentility is not foolishness.”

While parading the arrested suspects before journalists, the STF spokesman, Captain Charles Ekeocha, put the casualty figure at seven possibly to douse the tension. He also said only 10 houses were burnt.

But a Muslim cleric, Alhaji Tanko, has flayed what he called the selective arrest of Muslim youths by the security agents. The security squad has however dismissed such claim, insisting it had arrested only those caught with weapons irrespective of their religion or tribe.

Obviously, these peeps had no family members to bury them.
Is Jos now full of normadic riff-raffs needing a mass burial as VICTIMS?

Boolsheet!
I hope his own four children were buried in that mass grave too!
If he did not use them all for rituals. . .that is? kiss
