omar22:

Alonso's F10 got better as the season got on in 2010 and the RB6 suited Webber's driving style when you look at the amount of crashes Vettel had that season. Vettel sticks to the perfect driving line, Lewis glides into corners actualy Lewis drives as if he is driving a go-kart. And yes Lewis brakes late but its far from going through a corner more than normal speed. Thats why Newey created the RB7 which has less top speed but the down force is scary
I agree that Alonso's car got better, but it still was no match to Vettels. However, considering the words of his team, we are both right to some degree:

"There are some characteristics about the upgraded car that weren't particularly suited to his style of driving which is to carry a lot of speed into the corner," Horner said.
http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7677205/-Bulls-to-pursue-W-duct-solution-

"Sebastian Vettel needs a car in which certain conditions are met - and our car doesn't have these," Marko has been quoted as telling ServusTV.
http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/7682566/-Rule-Changes-Made-To-Weaken-Bulls-

As for why Webber feels more comfortable in the updated car, Marko added: "Mark is less sensitive to the [car's] behaviour. He just needs four wheels, but it's different for Vettel."

Can anyone imagine what Vettel said about Bahrain? Surely the guy isn't this heartless! embarassed

No one, it seems, wants to be here, apart from the race organisers, although the Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel struck a crassly insensitive note when he said: "It is not a big problem and I am happy once we start testing tomorrow because then we can start worrying about the stuff that really matters like tyre temperatures, cars …"

When he was told that a lot of people did not want Sunday's race to take place, he added: "I haven't met them. Maybe it is because I only arrived this morning. I haven't seen much of what people are taking about."

Abeg let them start the qualifying jare, hopefully my Ferrari will be in the top ten, Enzo must be spinning in his grave, as per Vettel, most of these guys live a sheltered life, he just needs to get better PR company.
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by Beaf: 3:27pm On Apr 21, 2012
Hm! Man of the day, Vettel, P1!
His nicer finger was out today. grin

Weldone to him.
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by montelik(m): 5:24pm On Apr 21, 2012
wow. vettel starts p1 even with one of the slower cars. i guess his luck has returned once again, or maybe, just maybe he has more talent than some are willing to concede.

i will be greatly impressed if he wins tomorrow. webber the poor starter he is, will likely drop back to p5 by turn 1. vettel will have his work cut out for him, with both the faster mclarens in hot pursuit.

****speaking in tongue, consulting the oracle, bringing the human blood as expected, chanting to the agbalagba of Ijebu*****

na tommorow we will see PROPER RACING......you certainly do NOT want to miss this race!

BTW: baba Ijebu already told me that Vettel will NOT win that race....and that one of my favorite will do GREAT!
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by Chib4u: 4:36am On Apr 22, 2012
Can't wait for the race. Adrain has clearly done some major improvements to the Red Bull...anyway with Hamilton P2 I expect to see some good racing and I think tire management will come to play and then boring lucky Button might be on the podium. #TeamHamilton

Lewis has been saying since Friday that the Red Bulls and Mercedes are the fastest. So lets end the slow car stuff, no car is slow this year.
Now, its mostly about the drivers than the car, unlike the past couple of boring seasons.
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by Beaf: 5:25am On Apr 22, 2012
I wish the FIA would also take the tyre regs away. Its so stup!d that drivers can win races by going slower to conserve tyres (eg Jenson Button last season). Why is the darn thing called a racing then?
I would love to see unbridled speed and exciting driving like we used to have in the past.

We need the old Bridgestone or Michelin tyres back in F1 that when we would see real racing

The Lotus pair of Grosgean and Raikkonen are absolutely flying...phew! First time I'll witness Mirror overtakes - grosgean on Hamilton and Raikkonen on Button same time.
Vettel remains P1 and is posting competoitive lap times compared to the Lotus Renault team.

Martin Witmarsh is the worst thing to ever have happened to McLaren. I wonder when Ron Dennis will begin considering a return. angry

Vettel wins..................... oh Kimi was so close!!!!

Baba Ijebu, YOU ARE FIRED!!!!!
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by omar22(m): 2:46pm On Apr 22, 2012
Kimi bottled it, just like Perez in Malaysia.... When you have a driver on the ropes you have to keep the pressure up! I feel the Perez one was a team order but they might he might regret that move, because in Barcelona all the expensive upgrades would be applied and that would differentiate the men from boys

I actually remembered this morning that you usually have a thread for F1.

So what can Lewis hope to achieve this season? I had high hopes after the first two races; I am fast losing hope again.

I see the ferrari lover (Mrbrownjay) is still here. tongue

vettel, didn't you get the memo. you are not supposed to be competitive now that you no longer have by far the fastest car. what excuse will they give now for your performance? lol

bro did you see any skilled driving today from Vettel? OF COURSE IT IS THE CAR!!!! they even had 2 pit crew standing next to car so that no one sees what the upgrade was. Vettel was just cruising in clean air, as usual.

@Katsumoto
i will always be a Alonso/ferrari lover but i am also a Raikkonen fan, and this is why i thought Baba Ijebu's predictions were going to come out right........... i just got a call from baba Ijebu, and he told me that he said one of my favourite was going to DO GOOD, and so far kimi did. so he gave me a half prediction.

montelik: vettel, didn't you get the memo. you are not supposed to be competitive now that you no longer have by far the fastest car. what excuse will they give now for your performance? lol

so the upgrade that they were shamefully trying to hide didnt make the car faster?! come on bro, lets be real, they fixed their car and it is now competitive with the top. yes he won, NO he didnt do anything special today (as usual).

Cool, I am also a Raikkonen fan but I was disappointed he bottled it today when he should have gone past Vettel.

yeah i think it was a safe decision........ his first podium finish of the season is a sure confidence/ego boost.

btw: Alonso really lost it when Rosberg drove him off track, lol!

omar22: So what happened to Webber?

What happened to him? he did exactly what he has always done: come second to his teammate when it really matters.
Re: Formula One Gee-Spot 2012 by montelik(m): 3:23pm On Apr 22, 2012
this is beef. did he buy p1, did he get it on the roll of a dice, or did he not outqualify the others to start on pole. so winning from p1 is easy abi. then we shouldn't bother with race anymore, just award the winner in qualifying. do you score extra points for winning from the back.

also i didn't realise there are new rules that mean only red bull are allowed to try new upgrades. i am sure they are the only ones trying to make the car better, God knows Ferrari aren't trying upgrades.

Lewis has a bright season for what he can carve out for himself, he's got the talent and the head. But this season looks very much like a lottery so far.

To me, Lewis greatest opponent is Martin Witmarsh. That man just doesn't have the right management skills for that level of competition. I don't see how half the stuff that Lewis got last season would have happened under Ron Dennis.
Martin Witmarsh definitely has zero team leadership skills, zero driver management skills and zero press management skills. The man is a huge zero.

From leaving a rag in Jensens engine in Monaco two years ago, to two botched pitstops in one race (3 in 2 races) for Lewis, you've just got to hand it to Martin Witmarsh whose sole skill seems to be talking a lot. Lol!
