Okun peaple might be the only peaple in Nigeria compelled to join a state, which we strongly protested that we did not want.
It is unfair to treat us as has been done. We can not aspire for position slated for Yoruba because we are treated as ''Northerner'' neither can we aspire for that slated for the North because we are regarded as Yoruba.
We want to be constituted into a state and a zone that shall be predominantly Yoruba.
Yoruba are our kith and kin in the South-West but wonder why we are zoned to the North for no just reason.
We seek for the creation of OKUN STATE and should be zone with the South-West.
Geographically, Okun land is never in the North or MB.

Tell that to Late Awoniyi, according to him Okun people are Yorubas from the Nothern Part of Nigeria.

I totally agree with you. Infact I support your proposal for the creation of Okun State because our identity has lost between the north and south west. Some of our greedy 'leaders' have sold us for a peanut. Infact it is almost certain that an Okun man may never become a governor in Kogi State going by the way the Ebira and Igala have dominated and suppressed the political landspace to our detriment.

You know politicians and their cunning way of achieving ther set goals. Remember he(Awoniyi) failed to emerge the PDP national chairman because he was a yoruba but, was the chairman of ACF until his death. He made that move just for himself and not for the peaple of Okun.

@Akinnux, thank you ny brother. Kogi is too complex for our nature and our leaders are really helping the matters.
I'm sure with the creatin of Okun state, every other things(gov, dep. gov, university, dev.etc) will be added unto us.

No more recreation of states, people . We already have too many pointless states and even more pointless political positions. People are actually looking for the reduction of states, to be frank. What I propose is the absorption or redistricting of states, changing the borderlines. So your proposed state can either join, kwara, ekiti, or ondo states. The same thing goes for those people who want Anomio state, it can easily be added to anambra. We are tired of new states, if someone has a problem just move the borderline.

I think the Yoruba speaking people of Kogi and Kwara states should be merged into Kwara and the bariba of Kwara taken to Niger

Kwara can then become a full fledged SW state
