Our Current constitution stipulates a maximum of 2 terms of 4 years each.

Our abuja law makers want a "better" Nigeria, they want a 3rd term for OBJ.

Northerners are hell bent in getting to claim back their birth right.

Igbos says this is their TIME, if  not given, their currency will hit market within 1 hour, and the Republic of Biafra declared.

Yorubas believes OBJ has wasted their slot.

Niger Delta nko? They are very angry.

WHY CANT WE GO FOR A SINGLE TERM OF 5 YEARS WITHIN THE SIX GEO-POLITICAL ZONES?

starting from when? After obasanjo or from the next administration?

why must ethnicity be an issue in who governs nigeria?

They should leave things the way they are right now. Period!

@Loverbwoy

Keep on pretending.

Check even from this forum, what the Igbo people want. 99.9 % want Igbo presidency in 2007.

1st Stage: If i have the singular vote to determine this: i will ask OBJ to leave in 2007 as scheduled. i will make sure there's no Yoruba or Hausa candidate in the Presidential election, I will allow only the Igbo and other minority to contest. If the Igbos blow it by bringing 100 candidated thats their problem.

2nd Stage: After their term, then we go for 5 years single term.

What we have is a "country" pieced together by the British for "easy administration." When they say hausa, igbo and yoruba are the biggest tribes, that doesn't mean we don't have over a hundred lying in the background and who don't want a taste of power.

Using ethnicity as a means, lots of people can come up with plausible excuses. The Igbos say they haven't had a chance, the Ijaws that their land produces virtually all the oil etc etc.

I don't belive in this "ethnicity" thing they're hyping about. Policiticians are politicians -- they'll make lots of promises based on their ethnic groups but when they get in, they just begin to line their pockets and when four years pass [quickly for them], they immediately try to get in for a 2nd [or 3rd term] as the case may be.

I don't think the election should be determined by ethnicity. Nigerians should just go for the man they think is best -- regardless of ethnic barriers. Anyway, I know this is all wishful thinking. It can't happen -- at least not in the Nigeria I know.

@Zahymaka

All our previous election(except June 12 & OBJ's 1st term) was mostly hinged on Ethnicity.

Though it is wrong but thats our country.

That's why I hinted I knew it was hard to change things.

@Akolawole,
Single Term of Five years, for where??

After your Baba -(OBJ) would have spent 8yrs come 2007. Never, others coming after him should be given equal opportunity.

Why change the term of office at the tail end of his rule?
