pepperliny We have been very good friends for about three years now and he is such a nice person,very hardworking too with a self-employed business that pays his bills. now he wants to take the friendship to another level but the snag there is that he mixes his tenses and is not very fluent with English, though he is a part time graduate.i correct him once in a while because i don't want to trample on his ego and u know how men can be sometimes,he might later think am trying to be a control freak.He is very caring and doting though a good man. i have dated some other guys in the past who have got "swag" but they are not as caring and doting as this one and the kind of family i come from is one that is so particular about the way people speak. i think this all goes to show that there is no perfect being. what do u guys think cos i don't know how am going to present him to my family and friends with his tenses on the long run? i do like him a lot anyway and he loves me very much. pls what do u advice?

Just saunter into a good old bookshop and buy a copy of BRIGHTER GRAMMAR; not for your guy though,but for yourself.

Last time I checked,it was "fluent in English" and not "with English",also when dealing with form and function,the first person singular pronoun"I" is ALWAYS capitalised as against the dotted "i" you splashed all over your post.

How would you feel if someone refused to marry you just on account of the afore-mentioned albeit flimsy flaws
