Let me go first.

I have a 2004 xterra SE. Bought it on pre-order from Inspired in June 2012. The odometer was 117k on arrival. So far I only serviced it and topped the radiator coolant.

The SUV is a marvel offroad.

I drive the 2006 model, bought it (delivered) in January 2009, wt mileage of about 33000KM. With the exception of having to change the radiator like 3 months after delivery from a single cell to double cell radiator ( the stuff was always over heating after being in traffic for upward of 2 hrs, which for me was daily). The ride is a smooth drive anytime. Just service @ apprporiate time, top the coolant and u ave Japanesse Stallion in ur hands. Will recommend it anyday mehn.
Fuel consumption is very conservative and mehn dat ride can sure come out of crash wt minimal damage that cost next to nothing to fix.
Best vehicle I ever had.(I'd use Toyota Celica, and a Volvo S40)

I have a 2007 Nissan Exterra suv.It,s the best car I have ever used.Everything is perfect except that it does,nt have high shock observer.The break pads and disk plates got bad after just 6 months.Though I do understand that it was as a result of the bad roads in Nigeria especial my village in Enugu.Generally I,m lovin it.

You must really be a billionaire grin so before u pre-ordered it you did'nt take time out to look for one physically and assess the thing, like going to price one in a local car shop.
Shege! Too much money!!

No vex for me, sometimes pictures dont tell minute details. But I cant fly simply cos I wanna pick up a truck, pre-order is a norm for me. Again, you guys are not Nissan whose product I criticize, the price drop in Xterra is simply cos of poor interior design, I am sure Nissan is doing something about it as you will see in newer models

I will not comment negatively cos u criticize Xterra (which I hate anyway) cos the tread is to give a general idea of the bad side nd goodies for knowledge purpose but if u yab Nissan then what will u say about toyota?....for me toyota has the worst interiors nd honda has good interior but banlance and durability is wack.."plastic ryd"..

I guess the newer versions of the Xterra look great but its too high up the ground nd jaming up some speed will be at your risk....Am a freak for german tech anyway so Japan aint ma thingy except the upgraded versions.....I.e..
Nissan = Infiniti
Honda. = Acura
Toyota = Lexus

Now your talking....
Re: Nissan Xterra Owners Forum by cinzo: 5:00am On Jul 07, 2012
Nissan Xterra was never built for luxury but for offroad work! That's why the spartan interior. Why I opted for the 04 model was because it had the lowest factory defects and recalls for that series.

There is no road the Xterra can't go through and the ground clearance is extremely high so bye bye to floods and bad roads.

Come and see the way the car tackles portholes and water pools.

Two posters said apart from TOPPING THE RADIATOR COOLANT and serivce. Rad Coolant is not supposed to be topped if your car cooling system is working fine. Do other Exterra owners have thesame experience.
No offense pls, the last time i added coolant to a car was 5 years ago.

Don't get me wrong. When I mean topping off what I actually meant was that I topped the run-off to where max was written on it cos the coolant level there was below the max.

Anyone moaning about the topic being on the front page shd go and open his own thread jare.

Still waiting for more Xterra owners to share their views.

You are a slow individual. May your family not fall victim to them.
Should we only concentrate on some irresponsible group of misguided individuals all the time. Don't give them free promo.
Nissan xterra looks like a mean machine from outside. But I prefer my rugged turbo Highlander anyday.

Re: Nissan Xterra Owners Forum by KOMBE: 6:33pm On Jul 07, 2012
I bought a 2000 model and the vehicle has been showing good performance for the past 4 years. A mechanic stole the intake air temperature sensor and the vehicle did not fire well for some months. I later found out the missing part through scanning and bought it N9000 from U.S. After replacing it, the vehicle is doing very fine and is quite okay. The power steering pump is N6000 for a Belgium one as you may have to change it every one and half years as well as the water pump which is N7000 For a new one.
The vehicle is relatively cheap to maintain and I do change the ball joint, tie rod and linkage every 8 months and it cost me N25000 only. Surprisingly it consumes equal amount of fuel as my Toyota camry 1998 model. THIS SUV IS WORTH BUYING AND I WILL RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE.

I ve used my o7 for a year n half now without issues, I just service every 3 to 4 mths, ie change oil n filter.

I however got a misfire n evap code P0300 n Po448 recently. I erased it without working on it, hoping d code will reappear but it has not for over a wk now

I ve also tried to service transmission but can't find the ATF ie Matic J. Anyone know where I can get d transmission oil.

From my xpce so far I say d ride is good n pocket friendly in as much as I ve not done any major work on it accept a repair of fuel gauge 4 8k

For your transmission oil try Alliance Autos. They sell Nissan cars along Oshodi express way. Or Sun Motors at Ijora. I know they sell Matic D for N4600 a liter.
