MTN Finally Bows To Market Pressure & Reduces Tariffs? by forkadict(m): 11:31am On Jul 10, 2012
About a year ago, I started a thread on MTN's greed, insensitivity to the plight of their customers, and abuse of the rare priviledge bestowed on them by their teeming customers, pride, amongst other other crimes. I compared their tariffs to other networks and pointed out that they were out to kill their customers rather than add value to their lives.

Fast forward to a year and some months later, MTN is now charging 5k/sec for MTN to MTN calls? Is this not an indication that they are no longer as comfortable as they used to be? Rman, where are you? Can you explain why your bosses are now charging customers for MTN to MTN call @ 5k per sec?

But the sad news is, its too late for MTN. I am not going back to them. They made me cross the point of no return and at this point, I am done with them.

What are your takes people?

I believe the tariff u are referring to is the MTN ZONE tariff.......unfortunately U are partially right. Try making a call in the evening on that same tariff package....U might just be charged about 40k/sec.....MTN to MTN call.......IMAGINE.

Well....their time is UP. No more monopolistic prices.

What tha fork! I say these guys be FRAUD. It is the mtn zone. I made a call and was charged 5k per sec. A few minutes later, i had to make another call to the same number and i was charged 10 kobo per sec. I have no intention of going back to them as i stated earler. I was forced to make that call because i exhausted my credit on my etisalat line. anyways i was surprised at the different call rates and called the customer care. Imagine what the chic told me? She said that the price varies and can go from anywhere around 5k/sec to 20kobo per sec. I was MAD. i was like, these people still never learn o. why is it that they are always out to cheat their customers? I pray those idiots go bankrupt! I swear!

The highest I have been charged is 25k/sec. I think its a function of your location and the congestion in your area and at different times of the day. My charges have been between 5k/sec and 25k/sec. I think this is a welcome development. However i am eager to know the charges TO OTHER NETWORK, Mtn has been silent on this.

Op should get facts right before starting a thread. It's not a permanent tariff reduction. It's an ongoing promo on mtn pulse (that I know) and it runs till 31st July. 10k/s to all mtn numbers and 5k/s to a special number. Send the special number of your choice as a text message to 567.

I can't use the network in my life.
I'm using 2 airtel 1 for my personal line
And 1 for my BB. MTN stinging network.

When will our government wake up and allow us change our networks at will while still maintaining same number as it is done in Ghana and other countries today?

Until then, MTN won't know the level of disatisfaction their customers feel and how unpopular they have become.

In fact ehn, that whole arrangement say rates fit low reach 5k/sec na SCAM. Like the poster above has said, we URGENTLY NEED NUMBER PORTABILITY IN THIS FORKING COUNTRY ASAP.

But i feel the only reason why NCC has been foot dragging on the issue is because MTN has bribed their top guns. (Just my opinion tho and let no one criticize me for this). Otherwise why the fork has the project not kicked off sll this while?

If this was possible I would have switched a long while but I just do not want to because I still get text messages on my MTN but their BIS has punished me and distant me from my many BIS friends. I think there is still so much to do concerning service provision in Nigeria because NCC is not thinking about it that it is not a matter of the number of lines we have but how active they are.

You are even lucky that someone at the customer service picked ur call. Each time i desired to call them i have to ensure my battery is full because, MTN customer service is the highest battery drainer for the continuous looping of calls that they end up not picking.

I wish there was a way we all can agree to use BB chats and emails for 1 week and avoid voice call for 1 week, just to send a message to these capitalist companies that our great grand fathers survived without them. lol

MTN can be likened to GEJ in the sense that they're both hated by their customer/followers but the problem is that MTN will always have customers. And there customers are people that have been complaining for years but have refused to go elsewhere. Are they using juju or what?

I c no reason y people r always complainng about mtn, is a matter of choice, afterall there r numerous network to choose from. If u cannt afford mtn then try other network. I wanna believe u guys cannot jst keep ur eyes off mtn bn an amaible n most reliable in network in Nigeria...no wonder their rates r expensive.

I will definitely edit my contact. places i use mtn to glo. its becoming phenomenon for mtn to be deducting their customer airtime of no any account. the first time they deduct my airtime, i called their centre and my money was refunded, albeit i was first accused of subscribed for their promo which i did not. and since that day, it has become every 4-4 days of removing 100 naira from my balance. call their centre they will not pick or when they pick it they will argue that i subscribed for their promo. its crazy for mtn undecided
Re: MTN Finally Bows To Market Pressure & Reduces Tariffs? by Nobody: 5:46pm On Jul 10, 2012
People keep complaining of MTN, yet these same persons still retain MTN simcard. Stop complaining and make a move. Get BB and do more chatting and less voice calls or get a cheaper network.
Re: MTN Finally Bows To Market Pressure & Reduces Tariffs? by Nobody: 5:52pm On Jul 10, 2012
mtn as a company are too smart & cunny, trust me, just like the devil, they will never give you anything for free...no matter how good their numerous package may sound to the ear however there are loop holes to drain-dry u up on the other side.
*10k/sec pulse is only 4mtn pulse users & if u eventually call other mtn users on a diff plan then u wud knw how far 35k/sec wud talk.
*5k/sec zone calls is only attainable @midnights, @day times u only get to see 25k-40k/sec...10k on a rare occasion.

Any thing MTN is 419. Their charge is always "as low as...". Always never specific. So you end up paying 100k/s!
