FreeStuffsNG: Who is producing jeans, t-shirts and shoes in Nigeria that the ban on okrika is trying to protect? |
Re: Why We Are Seizing Imported Used Clothes, Shoes — Customs by charlesditro: 10:13am On Oct 10, 2022 |
Instead of seizing, a reasonable government could initial sanitization of those imported clothes and generate more revenue. I am sure importers would rather pay to sanitize their imported good by an agency prescribed rather than loose the whole goods. The charges for sanitization shouldn't have to be exorbitant so consumers wouldn't suffere for it. |

GamalNasser: God bless you man. Let's find our comparative advantage and do it soooo well that it covers for other things we will buy and have excess. Dubai majorly run on Tourism, that is man made not Natural resources, we have nations that Run on Education, some Hospitality, some dont need Natural resouces to thrive, they create something . If we can't do it as a nation do it as a sub nation. Where Calabar perfects Hospitality and lagos Perfect commerce, the west Perfect Education while the North Perfect Labour. Then FG Perfect Natural resources. But no these greedy people will Focus on themselves. U said I should not buy used but you refuse to provide enabling environment to Citizen, how will a startup pay up this light bills and Rent (Landlords and agents are exploiting people and the government is looking). Before you ban in the name of PROCTECTION, there must be something you are protecting. 2 Likes |

Re: Why We Are Seizing Imported Used Clothes, Shoes — Customs by joshtooxplicit: 10:34am On Oct 10, 2022 |
CheapHomes1: Atleast Before you initiate a "PROTECTION" there must be something you are protecting. Now they want to protect what is non existent, so importing becomes smuggling and custom earns money that is suppose to go to Government.. you cannot be importing through the sea and not be corrupt because you must settle. Import a car years ago with 600k and clear with almost same amount.. We have Gold, oil, cocoa and plenty etc, for God sake some nation need just one to grow, our leaders finish it up and come out to frustrate the common man. Comparative advantage will settle the Bulk of our economic problem We have bigger ports why not make importing easy charge your taxes and watch other nations like Benin use our Ports. |

But u fail to ban our politicians and theirs children schooling abroad don't u think is killing our education system and also our politicians and their families visiting foreign hospitals, what happened to our local hospitals don't u think our politicians traveling outside country for medical care is killing our local hospitals and making people lose their jobs. I pity those youths that is still supporting our evil, selfish and wicked politicians. 1 Like 1 Share |

franciskaine:Exactly, unfortunately the government is the biggest anti-industrialisation. Electricity, the government cannot produce. Fuel, the price is now about N800 per litre Basic fundamental industry (coal, steel, plastic, etc) non-existent. And the government still expect that by magic, Nigeria would start manufacturing microprocessors! I taya for our Economists! 1 Like |

FreeStuffsNG:How can you be importing fuel and then come around to preach protectionism....Is Nigeria self sufficient in rice production? Is Nigeria self sufficient in car production? With a minimum wage of 30k and contracts staff all over the country, do you think they can afford innoson cars? Do we have stable electricity to drive the manufacturing sector that will in turn build local industries? This Government is a curse to the Nation. |
