nairalanda1:The government should plan well before removing subsidy. Are you aware that the subsidy has not been removed? |

SpecialAdviser: When we were borrowing to pay for subsidy as at last year, you want a delay in removing subsidy? The problem is, there is no more money for subsidy . EVEN if we fought corruption, cut the salaries of the big men and so on....there is no more money. Keep it up, and we would have ended up like Sri Lanka. |

taylor88: You try to sound smart but ended up sounding more stupid. Both state and federal cannot unilaterally increase minimum wage without the house of assembly. Secondly, states are federated meaning they can on their own increase their minimum wage irrespective of the national wage bill. |

nairalanda1:Nobody is against subsidy removal. Has it been removed. NO. Why didn't this man sit to gather all the necessary intelligence before the announcement? Till now it has not been officially removed. Same way Buhari was rumored to have removed it several times. Has he officially signed to remove it? |

LeoDeKing: Funny enough I wa sjust discussing with a neighbour about this this morning. I believe he will strengthen the Naira to make purchasing power strong again. So with 2k you can afford what 5k can afford today. This to me would be the true solution off course it will take some time besides no real fix is over night it will take time to repair the damage |

Angelfrost:The subsidy removal can't stand. It's anti- people and must be resisted. There is no plan on ground to warrant its removal. We can't remove it when we keep on importing the product which is dollarized. The impact is telling on our people. Though I support its removal but not now |

taylor88: See how you just expose your ignorance online. FG has its part, State govt has its part. DO you know that LASG currently pays above the FG fixed minimum wage? What stops states from increasing minimum wage, do they have to wait for FG first? You guys are never ready for Fedralism. 1 Like 1 Share |

Its just a workover for Asiwaju💪.he always resolves all issues pragmatically and finds a common ground quickly. He hits the ground running from day one . Even while not presidemt yet, he was already negotiating with ASUU & deliberating to end almost one year strike. Just sit back and relax and watch how he resolves this effortlessly . l see Federal workers dancing too; even more than LASG Lagos state workers with 35 k naira minimum wage; 5000naira higher than national minimum wage in FRN federal republiv nigeria. Even if NLC goes on strike; Jagaban will resolve it quickly.💪 Jagaban leads other follows. . Asiwaju will not betray the confidence Nigerians reposed in him.💪 make l go sniff more cocaine dey follow up |

MisterBanny:That's it...if only salaries are increased, there would be too much money in circulation thereby causing hyperinflation. Now, who will fight the cause of other citizens that are not public servants like artisans, etc? Is it not better they use the money to subsidize something else like electricity, maybe free education at the University level, etc? At least, everybody will benefit from this and still keep the inflation rate low. |
Re: Subsidy Removal: N30,000 Minimum Wage No Longer Realistic – Workers by airsaylongcome: 1:06pm On Jun 02, 2023 |
nairalanda1: Right. So what changed between then and now? Then, it was a small leak that we could have gotten rid off. We had more income, a stronger Naira and the average Nigerian was richer then than now. Subsidy is the only real benefit the average person sees from the Government. Why the rush to remove it one month ahead of when the previous regime scheduled for it to be removed? My honest opinion? They (the new folks in power) want to steal whatever was budgeted for Subsidy for June. Quick recovery of election expenses |

It's only in Nigeria that a man who is immune from paying bills force people to pay outrageous bills. Has it occurred to you that your leaders live in free houses, drive free cars ,eat free food, clothed for free , enjoy free medical here and abroad and their children are educated at the expense of your ignorance? While your wards stayed back at home because of ASU strike theirs were far away enjoying peace and bagging degrees paid by you. Yet one God forsaken fool from whatever region is coming to support the removal of subsidy that same leaders stole from. Shame on you if you don't know that subsidy fraud was not comitted by the masses but by the same leaders you are comitted to die for. Shame on you if you still play regional politics and still suffering what everyone is suffering because of bad leadership. Shame on you if with your smartness you allow a dollard to rule over you. Shame on you for supporting this scam called subsidy removal that is still profiting your leaders. Wake up! |
Re: Subsidy Removal: N30,000 Minimum Wage No Longer Realistic – Workers by nairalanda1(m): 1:07pm On Jun 02, 2023 |
SpecialAdviser: The PIA provided for removal of subsdy. Plus the Minister of Finance has been saying...repeatedly that subsidy was only busdgeted for for the January to June period. Anyone who had been listening could see that subsidy was on its way out. And yes, prices have gone up because from July 1, the marketers would be paying higher for petrol. If they do not start making cash to pay for petrol...and that includes NNPC that since July last year has been cut off from free government money....they won't be able to pay for the petrol....then there would be scarcity. The subsidy was on its way out. It would have been out months ago, if Buhari had not pushed through an ammendment to the PIA that extended the period of subsidy.... If you want cheap fuel, you have to pay for it...at the pump, or in taxes. |
