The Dangers of Wilful Sins

We have often heard believers back their sinful lifestyles with statements like “His mercies endure forever”; “we are not under law but grace”; God is love and will always forgive” etc. Those who make such statements are oblivious of the God they are dealing with. The God of the Bible hates it when we sin wilfully or presumptuously. Wilful or presumptuous sins are great transgressions that involve despising God and His Word, and could lead to the loss of a place in His heavenly kingdom.

1. In the Old Testament, we read in Numbers 15:30-31 that God distinguishes between unintentional sins and wilful (intentional, presumptuous) sins. While unintentional sins require atonement, deliberate and defiant sins separated a person from God’s people and the redemption provided for them. We see God in verses 32 to 36 of Numbers 15, commanding Moses that the man caught gathering wood on the Sabbath day be stoned to death. God commanded this because the man committed a deliberate sin by defying God’s law against working on the Sabbath.

2. In 2 Sam 11, David committed deliberate sins of adultery, cold-blooded murder and subsequent cover-up. All these were exceptional evil in God’s sight. As a shepherd in God’s house, these sins became greater. Deliberate, repeated sinning had dulled David’s sensitivity to God’s laws and the right of others. Brethren, the more we sin, cover or make excuses for it, the more insensitive and hardened we become toward it. We must become hardened to sins. We must confess them and take a decision through the grace of God to forsake them. Any sin we deliberately allow and fail to deal with or kill can kill and remove us from God’s heavenly kingdom (may that not be our portion in Jesus’ name, Amen).

3. In 2 Samuel 12:13-14, we see God putting away David’s sin that is, forgiving him by taking away the death penalty and eternal punishment, thus restoring David to salvation and fellowship with Him (Psalm 51). In spite of this, his reputation was forever blemished and the effects of his sin continued throughout the remainder and family history. The consequences of David’s sin were irreversible. Sometimes an apology isn’t enough. When God forgives us and restores our relationship with Him, He doesn’t eliminate all the consequences of our wrongdoing.

4. David’s experiences after he was forgiven and restored is a sober lesson for those who casually treat sin as something that God simply forgives and forgets.

5. In 1 John 3:15, John the beloved wrote that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him or her. Murder which includes anger and hatred (Mt 5:21-22; 1 John 3:15) and other sins such as bitterness, jealousy, unforgiveness, sexual immorality or impurity, abandonment of one’s family, leading others to sin, cruelty etc are deliberate sins that lead to spiritual death. These abominable sins manifest utter rejection of honour toward God and loving care for others. Thus anyone who says “I have fellowship with Jesus Christ; I’m indwelt by the Holy Spirit and in a relationship with God,” yet participates in the above and other sins, is deceiving himself or herself and “is a liar, and the truth is not in him or her” (1 John 1:6; 2:4; 3:7-cool.

Conclusion
In sinning wilfully against God we despise the commandments of God, we treat Him contemptuously and make Him of little account. In committing these sins, we are saying to God that He is unworthy of our love and devotion. Ministers of God and other believers who commit sin presumptuously reflect their estimate of God and His holy Word. They treat the gospel and the blood of Christ contemptuously as if they are petty and unworthy fidelity.

If we say we are true born-again believers, we cannot make sin our lifestyle because of the eternal life of Christ abiding in us. 1 John 3:9 tells us that no one who is born of God will continue to sin or practice sin or keep sinning. John emphasises that those truly born of God cannot make sin their way of life, because the life of God cannot exist those who make a practice or habit of sin. Believers may occasionally lapse from God’s high standard, but they will not continue in sin deliberately as a lifestyle. That which keeps the faithful from sinning deliberately and habitually is God’s seed in them.

I beseech you to repent and forsake your sins so that you enjoy a time of refreshing with the Lord. Have your totally surrendered unto God and make Him your Saviour.

Take the following steps of faith in order to be saved and receive strength to serve Him.
A – Admit that you are a sinner (Rom 3:23)
B – Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is able to save you from your sins and sins’ problems (Mathew 1:21)
C – Confess your sins and invite the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour (Romans 10:9-10)
D – Depart from doing evil and live a righteous life in Christ Jesus (Titus 2:11-14)

He did when you asked for mercy. 1 john 1:9
At topic, the crux of the matter here is not that God wont forgive you, its that sin makes you lose the consciousness of His presence. It takes away your joy and your thrill of the intimacy with God.
N.B
the real issue is what sin takes from you. It could destroy in a hour what you used months to acquire spiritually.

It is even stated clearly in Heb 10vs 26. The consequences of making a practice of sin after knowing the truth. That is why all believers should be praying for God's grace as stated in Titus 2 vs 11&12 to be able to live a Godly and a sinless lifestyle.

and the decision of God is to forgive you. He forgave you even before you sinned. There is no love greater than His love for us.

Poster I know you are either deeper life or belong to one of those churches that believe they can impress God with their deeds. Hebrews 11:6.

The problem with you people is that because you think you can observe laws you are better than those who can't observe it but you forget that we are no longer bound by law. Romans 7:1-13.

What we do when we commit sin both intentionally and unintentionally is offend God but we have an intercessor pleading day and night on our behalf Romans 8:34 and our lives is hid in Him colossians 3:3 when God looks at a Christian, He sees Jesus.

We are dead to sin, Christians can't commit sin and it has no power over us or the power to send us to hell Romans 6:11.

Let me tell you, there is only one criteria to be met as a Christian to make heaven and that is John 3:16.

We should stop all these nonsense and stop scaring sinners away from the loving Father who loves us so much that he even numbered the hair on our heads Luke 12:7

Even look at 1 John3:9 'No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God' but you forgot to let people read from the beginning of chapter 3 what John is saying is not that we should abstain from sin because it offends God but an affirmation of Romans 6:11. Dude, we are dead to sin, Christians can not commit sin.

What exactly are you even trying to say? That a smoker of 20years should stop smoking the very day he repents, is that even possible except through the Grace of God that delivers him of that demon.

PLEASE CHRISTIANS OUT THERE, DO NOT LET ANYONE INTIMIDATE YOU WITH HELL. IF YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS AND THAT HE IS THE SON OF GOD, NOTHING CAN STOP YOU FROM MAKING HEAVEN.

There are somethings that shouldn't be said to baby Christians because they will abuse it. This nonsense of trying to please God through dead deeds should stop and we should embrace biblical truth, the Holy Spirit (our teacher, helper, master, friend, healer-love You so much) and let Him show you all things.

Lol, do not bother to stop on your own because you will surely almost go crazy instead get to know the Holy Spirit more by studying the bible and fellowshipping with Him constantly, fellowship o not pray, you do not pray to the Holy Spirit because He is your friend and here with you on earth. He is closer to you than the Father or Son and only through Him will God or Jesus manifest their presence to you.

Please Christian brothers and sisters, read all the epistles of Paul to the churches. You will be blown away by God's love for us and how easy life as a Christian should be.

Why do u people twist the bible to what sooth u like this? Yes Roman 6:11 say we are dead to sin and it explain further in 12 dt do not let sin reign ur mortal body so that u obey its evil desire 13 says do not offer d part of ur body to sin, as intruments of wickedness, but offer ur self to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and offer d parts of ur body to him as instruments of righteousness.
What ever that means, i think a true christain who really want to work with God can interpret.

So a true christain should knw that he must run fron any body/pastor that preaches what blink just preached here today and we must study our bible diligently with an open mind spiritually and with wisdom so that nobody will decieve us with the twisted words of God.

Sorry for the long scripture quoting, I can't help myself when I talk about my loving Father.

Let me assume I agree with poster...assuming o because I will never agree with him.
If being holy is what takes people to heaven, how come Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Metuselah, Noah, David, Elisha, and all the great men of God before Jesus didn't go to heaven instead they went to a place called Abraham's bosom and it was possible to see the place from hell Luke 16:23.

Do you know that even Jesus Christ the messiah died and went to hell when He became sin for us and spent three solid days in hell? Acts 2:31...Oh no you didn't know that...wow that's preposterous...wtf...blink182 is the anti Christ...lol!

And when Jesus was done the saints went into heaven with a quake that shook the earth Matthew 27:51-53.

So what happened, were they not holy enough? Can you get any holier?

Until I get an answer, I don't have a reason to reply this thread.

Think holy ones and keepers of God's commandment, thiiiiiiiink!!!!!!!!!!!

@blink,pls dont teach heresy..God does not condone sin.Since you are quoting Paul epistles, why dont u include Romans 6:1-15 especially verses 1 and 15 and Hebrews 10:26-33..What then? Shall we sin because we are no longer under law but under grace? Apostle Paul says God forbid..it is people like u that Apostle Peter was referring to in 2Peter 3:16 when he said they find it hard to understand Paul's teachings hence distort his words and God's word by implication.Shalom!
