I just got off the radio were the discuss was on vaccination and mosquito treated net, there seems to be this long talk as to the harmfull effect of vaccination on the health of "immunized" individuals, some argued that vaccination is a covert operation that is meant to make nigerians and africans lab rats, and so many people are now discouraging their wards from partaking in "immunization exercise". Some even argue that vaccination in children reduces I.Q level hence the decline in "sharpness" of kids and the increase of cancer, diabetic and patients with blood pressure cases.
Secondly, there is a rumour that the freely distributed mosquito nets, have been attributed to the cause of 2deaths in delta state and it has carcinogenic particles inbeded in it.
It has gotten to the point were a commissioner in Delta state has issued a warning that those spreading any negative rumour about vaccination and treated net will be charged to court.
Can Doctors in this forum please shed more light on the properties of vaccines and treated mosquito nets and their side effect, and if using them is worth it.

That is totally false. Even in WHO where i work as a regional associate Director clinicals, i have never heard of such before. The Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLITNs) are embedded with non carcinogenic insecticide chemicals that kill insects on contact. Moreover, the polio vaccine has been used all over the world with oustanding success. It is rumours like this that make Nigeria the only country in West Africa where Polio hasn't been completely eradicated.

Medically speaking, vaccination and mosquito treated nets are valuable preventive programmes against childhood dangerous diseases and malaria respectively. And they have no such adverse effects. However, these claims should be seriously investigated, scientifically, as some serious adverse effects of drugs or substances may not be immediately apparent at the time they were certified okay for human use (post-marketting stage of drug development).

Politically, both programmes have been continually used by politicians as a pretence to continue to siphon the nation's funds.

Religiously, some people have sought to use that as a case to make their usual troubles.

I don't know about Polio vaccine, but a very controversial retrospective study has identified a remote link between MMR vaccines and Autism in kids.

As far as I'm concerned though, the overwhelming advantages and increased life expectancy the advent of vaccines has giving to mankind by far outweighs any risks (whether real or conspiratorial). Insecticide-treated mosquito nets have gone a long way to reduce the spread of malaria in countries where this disease is endemic.

Some classical cases of effect do occur when such nets are not used as proscribed. The pizer case in kano is a setback for vaccination in the north.
