Not a car guru, but is the alternator working fine, have you consulted a mechanic yet?

I'm sure knowledgeable guys will soon come to your rescue on the issue. But this I know: if for any reason you must disconnect your battery, always remove the negative terminal (-side) first; and vice versa to reconnect.

Hi everyone,

I'm considering getting my first car, in making enquiries about the Nissan Maxima 2002, someone told me that the Maxima was one of the worst models produced by Nissan. I'm a bit confused now, pls someone should please clarify this issues - is the Nissan Maxima 2002 a good model in terms of reliability, fuel efficiency, availability of parts? Hoping to hear from you.

Nice to see a thread like this. I am contemplating buying a 2006 Infinity FX 35 but the review I have been getting from people is not encouraging at all. I know a sport car with crazy acceleration and power like the Infinity is bound to consume fuel. I am not bothered about that. I just want to ask FX 35 users in the house whether there are other inherent mechanical issue with the car apart from the fuel consumption and cost that make it quite scarce on Nigerian roads.

Was in the same boat as you, unfortunately, my dream to own one of those FX machines didn't work out, due to some circumstances, however...I finally got the 2006 Infiniti M35!
Boy, the sound of that machine when on full acceleration could give you a hard on.
The sound reminds of a muscle car...Mustang etc.
In my opinion, the only advantage of the FX35 over the M35, is the height, in other words, the FX35 is a SUV.
As for the features and specs, the M35 base trim, is well equipped!

The common problem with the FX35/45 is the dashboard cracks and melting, which I heard, is quite expensive to change, other than that, nothing major.

Do I regret not getting the FX35?...I don't think so!
I've always admired those machines (FX35/45) whenever they cruise by, but I'm ecstatic about my M35...the handling, the sound, the features and the luxury.

Hello. I know this will be the best thread to get answer to this question.

I'm considering 2000 Nissan Primera Estate 1.8L engine or 2000 Nissan Almera Tino 1.8L engine.

Now i want the house to help me make a choice considering the following:

1. I intend to do inter-region travel i.e. from South West to South East at least twice every year

2. Low on fuel since the car will be used on daily basis

3. Easily accessible and relatively cheap parts - i do NOT want to be referred to Ladipo to buy parts

4. Rugged and durable - our roads are not good

6. Good interior.

Attached are the pix for clarity.

Thanks for all your inputs

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 3:03pm On Dec 03, 2013
Considering your parameters the difference between the two is of one between six and half-a-dozen. The Estate should take more luggage though. The two are Europe-derived and since you don't want to be referred to Ladipo your best bet of locating parts would be UK ebay.

@costee Thanks for your response.

What I mean by not been referred to Ladipo for parts is that I expect the parts to b easily accessible anywhere in the country. I don't reside in Lagos so I wouldn't want a situation where I will need to go down to Lagos to buy parts for the vehicle when the need arises.

From your response, does it mean the two cars are same technically?

You'll have difficulty with procuring suspension and body parts, especially for the Tino

You don't need to go to ladipo. . .There is this website, www.gokool.com.ng(they do have an ad in the car talk section), an online shopping mall for vehicle parts that offer nationwide delivery on genuine parts. You can give them a try whenever the need arises

If you're in Abuja, I can give you the contact details of a mechanic...the young lad is good!
According to him, he was trained by a company, and his knowledge about cars and infiniti attests to his claim.
He thoroughly serviced my infiniti M35, before driving it down to the East.

Dis you eventually get the Nissan Maxima 2002? What was your experience like? I really love the car and that is what i want to buy, but online reviews and people's comments have been very discouraging.
I might just port and go buy a Honda Civic 2004, which online reviews say is very reliable, though the car looks uninteresting and unsexy.

PS: Other Nissan users, what has been your experience with the Maxima 2002/2003?

For some reason, most Nissan products are unreliable, from Pathfinder, Xterra, Murano, Maxima, to Titan, while their luxury brand, Infiniti, are well built!
I wonder...

Based on some of the reviews from the consumers...Maxima had 539 reported problems.
Pathfinder=743
Xterra=425
Murano=252
Titan=114
And the worst of them all, Altima with 1,923 reported problems/cases

Compared to Infiniti
The highest reported problems were:
G35 with 21
M45 with 13
QX4 with 19, and G35x with 11.

The difference is clear!!!

I have no idea, especially; as both brands are made by the same manufacturer.
It beats me...

No I didnt, some more experienced people advised me against buying it. Will go for other Nissan or Mazda models.
