@Deepzone
The Jehovah's witnesses do not claim the Holy Spirit like u said. They deny him. They refer to him as a force which vanished into thin air after the ministry of the early apostles.
@Rubi and Innocent
You hv spoken my mind. For what is good for brother A may not be good for brother B. It all depends on thier peculiar callings in God. God deals with us in different ways.
David ate the shew bread which was reserved for the priests and God wasnt mad. Someone elso could do the same and die on the spot.
Abraham looked at the same city that Lot was commanded not to and didnt become a pillar of salt.
That pastor Chris has his hair well done dosnt mean that pastor Kumuyi can do the same. He could do so and be condemned to hell at the end.
Every true christian should cultivate a lively relationship with the Holy Spirit. If that happens, questions such as whether one should walk in a brewry or not wouldnt come up bc u aught to have been led to even apply for the job. Be led of the Spirit. That's d key.

I remember a relation of mine go through the same thing when he quit his job with premier breweries at onitsha and he was receiving a good pay as a chatered accountant. His wife supported the family for almost 2 years because he was trying so hard to establish his own firm. Many auditing firms play with figures and he wouldn't want to be part of it. I mean, this guy once told me that the day he cancelled roman catholicism was the day he saw a hotel advert in a catholic magazine. This is a UI graduate who also has ICAN certificate.

Where can a christian work nowadays without exposing him/herself to sin? Oil companies are guilty of human rights abuse and possible genocide, The secret service is an assassination firm in disguise, the bank will expose you to customers that do not know God and you have to please them so they can maintain their account even when they curse Jesus Christ, The telecoms is off the chain because fornicators and adulteres use their phones to set appointments, business center is bad because 419 people use their services, driving is not possible because Agboro people are foul mouthed, Nursing or doctor is out of the way because you'll be exposed to naked women all the time which can lead to temptation besides, you need to teach people to have faith and not go to hospital because their God is alive.

I recommend that every xtian in Nigeria QUIT their so called worldly jobs and EACH START THIER OWN CHURCH.

Let politicans continue to steal
Let the oil companies continue to steal our wealth
Let the status quo continue
Let all the xtians in Nigeria start their own church to make heaven (which may or may not exist)

NO WONDER, NIGERIA WILL NEVER CHANGE!!!!!
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by madamkoko: 3:19am On Aug 21, 2008
In fact, all the xtians in Nigeria should have their own state.

that piece of dump will be poverty ridden, they can all attend each other's church service for consoulation.

Gents & Ladies,
I work in a Brewery and I don't see any reason why the young man in question should not.
There are many practising xtians here!! the bible never condemned drinking alcohol. Even Jesus turned water into wine and in bible terms, wine is defined as purely alcoholic!!
A pastor of the RCCG works in this brewery and so far he has been able to maintain his integrity and combine it with God's word.
A job is not easy to get my man. Take up your job and show people how working in a beer producing company does not affect your relationship with God. If you follow the bible critically, then a christian should not work!! Every kind of job one way or the other impacts on someone negatively. I have worked for two years now and I can proudly say I am better alcohol-wise than I used to be. I used to abuse alcohol but now I don't!!!

A word is enough for the wise!!! A whole epistle will never be enough for the foolish grin

Getting the job is not without the consent of God, i want to believe he prayed for it.

There is a difference between profession and religion. i think what u need is to ask God

about the purpose of taking u there and ensure u do his will accordingly. many xtain are working in brewery and

they are doing exploit for God. dont disturb urself about what people say but what God will.

pay your tithe, support kingdom work, preach gospel in the coy and dont compromise.

my bros, go on son!
become the best brewer.

Jesus turned water into wine but no one told us he was once drunk of wine.

A xtian can work anywhere he or she choose.
only abuse of any sort is what we must look out for.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by madamkoko: 3:06pm On Aug 21, 2008
He didn't drink the wine because the wine was for the couple/guests doing the wedding.

Can we pls put the bible in context. It is also clear that Jesus did not condemn anyone in that wedding ceremony for drinking wine.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by madamkoko: 3:09pm On Aug 21, 2008
Wine, Brewery, beer: all have alcohol in it.

Luke 7:34:
34 The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’

@madamkoko
What do you mean by Jesus did not drink wine at the ceremony? the fact that the bible was silent on that point does not mean he didn't drink out of it, after all he was a guest at the wedding and the wine was meant for the guest as you rightly pointed out. Anyway the fact that he turned water into wine means that he appproved of drinking wine and it is very much OK for christians to drink wine

Foolish boy!! Containing alcohol and 100% alcohol na de same thing?  Where have you ever seen 100% alcohol.  Even pure ethanol is about 98% alchohol.  If you as much as went to Junior Sec. Sch. you would have known that.  Odeh!
You either have "fruit Juice" or "Wine".  Fruit juice is not alcoholic.  That is where Chivita and 5Alive fall into.  You must be a retard to think that fruit juice and wine are the same.
And for the sake of your English teacher, please stop exhibiting ignorance you hear.  Check a dictionary before you misbehave.  Ewu
Yes, I work in a brewery.  I have an RCCG pastor working with me.  He doesn't touch alcohol but I do know he doesn't criticize until you take too much.  Idiot.  Na you holy pass.

@KunleOshob
Good post. No mind those holier than thou. You might as well tell me that Jesus slept with the prostitute he rescued from stoning because the bible does not expressly say he did not sleep with her.

Hmn, i can see beyond what you have not even said. Just a little wordly (just a little sin~.hmn). THis might as well mean that when in Nigerian Breweries, the spirit might be willing (complete the rest). God help man!

I rest my case.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by IdeyVex1(m): 7:15pm On Aug 21, 2008
@ profteedav

So you are with Nigerian Breweries. I see!! and with the sales force too!! I see.
No wonder. I agree with you there oh! But I know lots of people who do only one of the Bs. Boozing.
And they do not do it to the extent of getting drunk. The other two they don't do.

@ Post
If you friend got a job with the sales force of Nigerian Breweries and is a born again xtian, then I think he should ask questions before taking the job. The job requires that he drinks socially. If he has nothing against beer as a person, then he can go ahead and take the job. If not, then let him jump to it. Opportunities rarely come more than once.

If you are a man of conviction you wouldn't even seek for people's opinion you will just go ahead and do what you stand for.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself" Daniel 1:8

The fact that you accepted the job shows that you wanted to work there but want a support from people to back up your embattled conscience. The battle is between you and God. Have you prayed to him (God). I believe God has a way of communicating with you His Mind.
Once there is a will there be a way.

Personally, I don't support Christian taking alcohol on the basis that you can drink and not be drunk. The question I ask is How much alchohol could make a person drunk - 1 bottle, 2 bottle, 3 bottle, 10bottle. You see there is no standard. A pastor that preaches drink and not be drunk will end up having drunkards in his congregation! There is no way you will continue taking alchohol that you will not be drunk for once.

After my graduation I made up my mind not to work in a tobacco or breweries company from the onset nor buy shares of such company. I have come across various adverts from british Tobacco and nigerian breweries of which I am qualified (I made a 2.1 in Elect/Elect) I just by-pass the page and kept on searching for other jobs opportunities. Today I have a good job with a good pay! I mean Six Digit Figure!

Once you decide to stand for something you will weather all storms.
