Nigeria HATES itself.

Look at the Leaders - a bunch of dumb a@@ men. Whose aim is to money grab as much as possible from the Oil companies and STARVE their own people.

Look at the People - a bunch of cowardly sycophants doing NOTHING to uplift themselves.

You just buried this thread, that was a nail in the coffin, I doubt anyone could say it more than that.

Good summary.

Nonsense. Nigeria is the place to be. Especially if you have an extreme personality like me where the threat of jail is an ever present reality. Europeans and Americans have way too many laws. Lets look at their traffic norms for example-you drive too fast or too slow, you go to jail. You didnt quite park well.Your music is too loud.Just about anything constitute sexual harrassment. You can go on and on and on.

In Nigeria even if you genuinely breech the law (so far you no kill person) you can always reach some kind of understanding with the law. You guys dont get me wrong now.The law is there to be obeyed but there is ample freedom too.In america you do one small thing it hangs on your neck for the rest of your life at the push of a button.

How can you, knowing this hate Nigeria.Like Europe and America if you work hard enough in Nigeria, you will be comfortable.Abi? grin grin

Really? Can you define comfort? Most of your argument seems baseless because these are just petty things you're mentioning. It's quite true that there's no place like home and yes I love Nigeria despite its ills but come on man,  we all know the givernment is a fraud except you're one of the clan. Where do you want us to start from about what's bad about Nigeria?

It's not all doom and gloom but hey you surely know that Nigeria as a country is not up to scratch not even up to a 50% functionality. Funny enough, we might all agree that other countries has it's cons as well but it annoys me that we could list a full page of what's unique to Nigeria (negatively) and with other countries not having the same issues.

You have spoken but not like a real boss. My view wasnt meant to be an argument but a first-impression response to thread title. Yes the government has failed its citizens in many ways and no I am not in government. You can say to hell with the govt work hard and make a heaven of your immediate environment. Then, even you can be a true boss in your own country.

Sorry chief, I was just trying to reason from the point of view of majority of Nigerians out there who work very hard but have very little to show for it because the mantras that is "life is what you make it" and "if you work hard, you'll reap the benefits" does not really and always apply in Nigeria, you understand?

You know it's easy for me to say yes Nigeria is bad and though the main issue is what am I doing about it but it's sad reading the news daily and it's always one good thing out of a hundred bad ones. Though it doesn't really always affect me directly but I'm human and I just feel sorry for the majority of my fellow Nigerians struggling.

I don't hate Nigeria, not one bit but I would love it especially more if basic things were put in place. This I fear is the reason why foreigners think Nigeria and Nigerians are hateful. If the people put in the position of authority have the common sense to use public funds for the public and put basic amenities in place, Nigerians would get along with life just fine.

One thing is for sure though, Nigeria is not a place for the feeble minded, you will get washed away.

Every nationa has its social ills, but Nigeria is the best country I can ever think of in the world. A country so rich in everything, think about the people, different cultures, beautiful countryside, the unwavering spirit, compassionate people, happy and joyful inspite of their condition and above all believing in hope against hope and undying faith that one day, Naija go better.

I love Nigeria so much, not because anything is working here, but because it offers a lot of opportunity to those that dare to dream, things are bad generally, but those who want to start new things and make impact in life, Nigeria offers the greatest opportunities.

With hard work, creative imagination, enterprise and industriousness, you can make a success of anything in Nigeria. Most people that travel abroad come back to start business and become their own boss and they re doing fine. The only difference between those that travel abroad and those of us here in Nigeria is perception. If you think you can make it better out there in the uk or US fine and good, its just a matter of faith. Travel is part of education, new skills, creative imagination gained could be put to good use to develop Nigeria. The truth is, a failure at home can not be transform to automatic success abroad, something about him must change. So, opportunity abound in Naija, it depends on your creative imaginations or ideas.

However, formal education is not enough in Nigeria just like any country, you must do more to make it. Above all, Nigerian are happy people, little wonder a research result said Nigerian are among the "Most Happiest People on Earth"

Yep, Nigeria seems to hate sucess. That is the only logical reason because it seems troible is gone through to make sure the most foolish choices are made. Take the power situation for instance. The Federal government seems to believe the way to fix the issue is by talking about it. Yar Adua has talked about this issue right from "campaigning" pre-election and yet what on earth has been done in the power sector? What policy direction has been taken? What have the funds assigned for the power sector which were in the previous budget spent on? Now this is the annoying part, the federal government does not want to do anything about power, ok, let states do something about it. No, because whatever power states can generate needs to go into the National grid. Doe it make sense? Do we even really need to go into quota system? The educational system of the northern part of the country will not be developed, no, the answer is allegedly to accept students who in lot of cases perform worse than their peers in order to fill a quota, instead of actually developing the educational sector. See what i mean? This doesn't seem to be neglect at all, it seems to be an actual forced attempt to make sure Nigeria continues to regress until the country jumps off the proverbial precipice it seems to have been playing and dancing on for soo long.

are you sure you are a nigerian? americans and europeans have laws that can be contested in court, nigerians have a police force that manufactures laws on the spot.

on new years eve, my wife got a call at 9.30pm that one of my cousins a- 13 year old - had been arrested by the police for selling knockout. on arriving at the station, we found a motely collection of individauls who had been arrested for all sorts of ridiculous offences, all in the name of new yaer money. an old woman had also been arrested for selling knockout - never mind that there is no official law against it. some one had been arrested at a suya joint. i think another at a cybercafe. we parted with 4000, after almost begging those never do well that we call policemen  angry . to make matters worse at some point, my wife lost her gold anklet - of course, since there is no real differnece between a nigerian policeman and a thief. . .its gone.

if you like decieve yourself that you ar safe from the law in nigeria. you are under threat from its agents. if we hadnt bailed out my cousin, who knows what those animals might have done to her. our jails are full of people who were arrested for loitering and who had no one to bail them out. just be careful; in uk/us u can get areested , in nigeria u can get killed. i doubt if this will happen to you though - u seem to be as police would call it a 'person' one who has a name that will make police let you go

I think the questions should be:

WHY DO NIGERIAN LEADERS HATE THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE SO MUCH?

clearly Nigeria (if managed properly) would be a shinning example of Western Africa.

Currently, Ghana have that title, hell, Nigeria does not even have resorts people from all other continents can visit.

Hey, start your own thread with your own question, dont change my question to that stupid question of yours, or else, your condom will burst next time you fok a prostitute, ok?

Peoples' - especially B.O.S.S. why are you answering this thread because you wrote somewhere, you said, you love Nigeria, so, why all the English? You simply could have answered by saying, I love Nigeria.

Haha, very funny.

I love Nigerians and the nation called Nigeria (I can't remember typing that word or mentioning the word hatred and Nigeria in the same line). I only want justice in my country and I want a safe haven where we could all look back to and be proud of. The thread states "why you hate Nigeria" and not "Do you love Nigeria" so why should I answer the latter quote?

Is this thread only for the people who hate Nigeria or shouldn't I have posted here?

i dont hate nigeria, but we nigerians ,for its our fault the state nigeria is in, we r quick to blame politicians forgetting that rather than voting our conscience in without collecting money from politicians,we decided to make money the basis of our votes.

i hate nigeria because we all are rabid tribalist, its only in our country that you ll get a professor of metaphysics employing on the basis of an individual being "his brother" or from his local government, its only here that people will make judgements based solely on their ethnic affiliations either because of ignorant ethnic stereotypes or some war fought over 30 years ago.

i hate nigeria because the youths(both in nigeria and diaspora) have traded their conscience and intergrity on the altar of greed, ignorance, tribalism, vocal cowardice, sacrifice e.t.c choosing to either make empty noises online without actions to back it up,not willing to sacrifice the comfort of the western world for a campaign for real change

Make up your mind now? These statements are conflicting,  grin

Also, I could see you're in Manchester and so am I, by the way why don't you lead the change and then the rest of us in diaspora could follow or does that statement (the one you typed above) applies to you also or you're one of us (who ran abroad rather than deal with the problem)?

I think you're bringing over the sentiments (What if the civil war in Nigeria was a success?) from another thread on Nairaland to this thread in relaying your thoughts as you sound really pissed off.

i see what you mean, what im trying to say is that i dont hate nigeria as an entity because if you think about it,we nigerians both old and young brought every problem on ourselves, nigerian land has given us natural resources, nice weather e.t.c everything we require to be a great nation but we messed up by the way we handled things, thats why i said i dont hate "nigeria, as an entity or nation"
