This is just embarrassing from Sterling bank. Totally ignoring the mass complaints of candidates who experienced network issues while attempting to take the test. Are Nigerians that dumb that 95% of test takers will fail this test.

I wish I participated in this exercise and progressed to the interview stage. I'll simply attend the interview, tell it straight to the HR's face how insulting and demeaning their recruitment is and then walk out.
Imagine thousands of graduates hoping endlessly for this job and after waiting for months to hear from Sterling bank, they simply made a fool out of them.
I don't have a bank account with Sterling, but I've found a reason to never ever bank with organization with classless values.

They should at least show courtesy and address the network issues thousands of candidates experienced or worst case scenario, inform those who experienced issues that they unfortunately can't proceed to the next stage.

If a government institution had done this, no qualms, after all government recruitments are never transparent, but a bank that's supposed to be the pace setter in terms of integrity in this corruption riddled nation and blatantly calling calling unfortunate candidates as failures is very embarrassing. Rubbish bank!

They could have quietly moved on with the recruitment, but putting out a bogus figure of failures is simply rubbing it into the unfortunate candidates faces.

To those out there seeking employment, don't give up, u're not failures.

Well, they probably have the number they need right now but in my opinion, that test was more like a riddle than a test of abilities. From what I heard, they had 20 questions for 20 minutes. How on earth do you expect the test taker to sit back and watch his time tick away (considering slow connections and all) and still stick to an instruction that says he should go through all the questions before answering? What do you really want from these people?

I believe in a challenging environment such as a bank, they should be looking for people who can think on the fly. People who can analyse situations and make logical conclusions to benefit the organisation.

That said, only they really know what they want. If they say they want robots (pardon my choice of metaphor), who am I to argue? Their organisation, their rules! Congratulations to the successful ones. Enjoy your new jobs. (I am assuming all of them will be employed)

The long awaited sterling bank second stage aptitude test held April 18, 10:00am to 12:00pm. Sterling Bank claimed applicants who took the test lacks the ability to follow instructions and attention to details.

Exactly the point! People hardly pay attention to detail. A friend of mine told me how he attended an interview and was asked a question about an electric train travelling at a certain speed towards the north west and the wind was blowing against the train from the South East at a certain speed so he was asked the direction of where the smoke from the train would be diverted to. So many people failed that particular question.

Employ the 120 people now, when people couldn't even go past question 10 because of your useless network,

If this is how your bank operates i'll rather wait for the 5k jeje, instead of working with such frustrating slow ass network.

it's normal for people to fail questions like this, it's a trickish question, though it is simple.

Our system is really faulty. I know of some persons working at Sterling presently that never took tests. You did the usual process for those who ''do not know people'' and you claim a number of persons failed. My question is, the number of persons who wrote the tests, did you notify the public how many persons you needed in the first place? Did you notify the public before hand that so-so- numbers conducted the tests? Why after the whole drama did you now come up with such figures? And if those who were successful, are they all going to be permanent staffs? I am tired of walking in the banking hall, talking to some nitwits who have no clue of the banking system but yet are paid better than those who do, are paid 61k monthly based on contract with no benefit. And those who have no idea are paid x5 of what the contract staffs earn doing the same job. For me, I do believe if someone has done a good job as a contract staff for a period of years, you make them permanent staffs. But in my so-called country, you find that impossible when the factor of ''I must know someone'' is predominant. I think Sterling should go Bleep themselves, as we do not need all these stunts of listing names of persons who were successful. If one could contact some of these persons, you will find out that some didn't write the test.

A friend who works at Sterling told me, Banks like Sterling recruit daily, as long as you have someone strong in the system, you will get a job. So what is the fuss about? What would have happened if 2000 persons were successful? Do you think they will have brought out this list? Nonsense.

I don't blame them, I failed some aptitude test before I started passing them. When a test is online, network can fail at any time so one can't be sure of passing even if one is very good.
That being said, a lot of graduate don't put enough time in practising/preparing for test. The percentage pass here isn't different from the average pass mark for test. To become a test taking black bet holder, requires dedication and hard work.

Una see una life for outside so! simple instruction, una no understand!
You are quick come up here and write out of the world abbreviations and incomprehensible grammar without even understanding the contents of articles or stories. Most are quick to verbally abuse others with contrary opinions. I think Nairaland also contributed to the stupidity and ignorance of folks here. Read stories to enlighten yourself from seasoned news media like NY times, BBC e.t.c...reduce your participation in Nairaland conference of verbal abuse!
I have maintained that the standard of education in Nigeria is abysmal.
Awon olodo omo!
