I see this government as being hypocritical, anytime the fulani herdsmen destroy farms kill people the government would not do anything but the moment there is retaliatory action you would different Gov organs swinging to action, it makes me wonder if all all are equal in this country. BUT WE ARE OBSERVING

Emmalez:
Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, today blamed the increasing rate in herdsmen and farmers clash in Nigeria, on conflicting reports on social media. Dambazzau said this while speaking during an inaugural meeting for stakeholders on the conflict in Abuja today April 14.

“The rise of the social media has given scope to the non-traditional media outlets which has seen interest groups frame stories surrounding the conflict in ways that tend to undermine the cooperate existence of Nigeria” he said.

He added that the crisis poses a threat to the unity of Nigeria and so must be addressed urgently.

Thank God for social media if not it would have been a silent rampage but now the farmers are on

the alert and so is every other Nigerian citizen.

Is it not strange how they take oil from the south, pollute farm lands, sell the oil, import petrol

and then allocate the money to every state in the country and anytime there is even scarcity it sells most

expensive in the south and now they want to also take lands from the south for free to feed their

cattles and only leaving destruction in their trail.but no one goes to the north to take free land

to open business or build houses, its all paid for in full, their crops and cattles are not sold and the

money shared to every nigerian but we still pay in full.

Please i ask, where is the fairness in all this? Are our Leaders insane? Or do a certain people think

the rest are fools?

Truth be told, in the scheme of things in Nigeria, the southerners come across as fools.

Most likely, from his name it's obvious. Fulanis be killing people all around the place as if they didn't exist in Nigeria before buhari took over.

What an irresponsible government.

Can you imagine that after loosing over 3000 Nigerians to the fulani herdsmen (mobile bokoharam), Buhari's govt first official response is to blame social media without any condemnation towards the herdsmen.

Buhari is just sooooo evil.
let's say dat is how they define democracy and diplomacy

Escalate means increase: to become or cause something to become greater, more serious, or more intense
He is not blaming Fulani actions on social media. He is saying that social media is hyping it, increasing it, exaggerating and expanding it. It makes the problem more difficult to solve.

Dan banza is not denying that Fulani herdsmen are on rampage, he is only blaming social media for reporting it. Typical.

es·ca·late [éskə làyt]
(past and past participle es·ca·lat·ed, present participle es·ca·lat·ing, 3rd person present singular es·ca·lates)
transitive and intransitive verb
increase: to become or cause something to become greater, more serious, or more intense

He is not blaming social media for reporting it. He is saying that social media is making it more serious, more intense than it really is. Social media is indeed causing unwarranted tribal bigotry and hatred. i have fulani herdsmen that pass where i currently stay every other day. If i were to go by social media, i would have waylaid them before they waylay me. But we actually relate even. They always been around for decades and we've always known that they love their cows more than human beings. It is not Buhari's fault or something APC started like social media is painting it. It is a problem that needs to be solved with wisdom, not with brute force or hatred or bigotry or political propaganda.

Lives and valuables are being lost due to the activities of these herdsmen and social media is supposed to keep mum? Is it not by reporting that people can become more aware of their nefarious activities? The federal government is yet to make an official release in the destruction by the fulanis and he's claiming social media is making it difficult. Lame excuse that's what it is.

He did not say they should keep mum. He said they should not escalate or increase the tension. Don't worry, the federal government will come to your bedroom to make official statement or release. Do a simple gooogle check please instead of embarrassing your access to the internet.

I agree with dambazzau. Interest groups on all sides are framing the issue to generate hysteria. Clearly some of these atrocities are deadly and should be punished but the only solution is to avoid an opportunity for such by providing grazing for the herders and strictly curbing their feeling of entitlement dt God owns d land. No. The state owns the land and no one can act lawlessly.

Its simple. Let the herdsmen association in each state get leases from state governments on a month-by-month or quarterly basis and let the state governors allocate grazing areas to them, with borders clearly enforced. It will even help some of these states trim their overgrown bushes and clear it for future farm use. We cant ban herdsmen from states, we need their meat and nobody wants dead frozen transported meat.

Very true, this is why many of us unfortunately support more censorship of social media, especially if site admin are too irresponsible to moderate hate content. Moreover, why it is unfortunate that the Social Media censorship bill was killed. Funny how "Nigerians" that are loath for anyone to criticize their childish but dangerous Igbo/Youroba hate, desperately want Kanu jailed for virtually the same thing.

Dont incite people to kill one another, incite the government to act.
