Assuming this was a private university, U will hear things like glorified secondary school etc...I took time to check those that commented first, none of them said anything like that...was it because it was the Almighty unilag..I am just wondering why those guys did not walk out of the class with their dignity in tact and report to the HOD....

They will not teach what they are spos to teach o.

That's how the lecturer will waste that day's lecture time talking about the "good old days". Before you know it, exam time table will come out without him completing his course outline.

The cycle of half baked graduates continues.

May God help us.

Half baked like ur irks

The university students of today are children, when I was in the university of Ibadan 20 years ago no student will obey such stupid lecturer.
Unilag Student Union should take this up, punish the lecturer in their on way and educate the student to always stand for their right.
This is a disgrace on the entire UNILAG including the Alumnis.

Gone re dayz when university re attended by adults, some students finish @ 16 nd enter university, that boyish character is there.teachers re like our parents, even when dey punish,i dnt see anytin bad in it.i went to imo state university, our HOD is d funniest lecturer alive.then he plays nd get serious,he once knelt two of my coursemates down nd ask them to drag their ear.u re quick to judge d man,but he didn't jst kneel them down, they did sometin wrong, knowing the nature of the man,he shouldn't be toyed With, avoid clashes with him nd take his lecture seriously.

This happened in the university of lagos, faculty of arts precisely during a Geography class. The name of the lecturer is Mr ogunkunle.

It's not as if this is the norms in Unilag, i say a big No. But this particular lecturer has been terrorizing us.

We have other lecturers who behaves well but this particular man is just something else i mean why will you tell adults like this to kneel and raise up hands just because they were not able to spell a particular word.

This lecturer rarely comes to class when he comes he spends most time sending students out and threatening them. He is just a disgrace to this wonderful university. We have very brilliant, decent lectures who respects us for who we are e.g their response to the dress code saga.

We are please begging the university to help caution lecturers like this so that our great unilag won't be a laughing stock amongst other universities.

Op with this kind of English and grammatical bombs you are throwing about, walahi you should also be on your knees with the others in front of that class. Nawao for this Unilag student.

an adult should not be subjected to corperal punishment.......know ur rigjts people!

This is totally wrong but what do you now say when so called adults behave like toddlers as most of them do?

In my time, no lecturer would dare this.

if students come late for lectures like this then it means the lectures are of little importance to their success,or on the other hand maybe they are not so keen on their education in which case as adults you cant make choices for them so let them be,their is supposed to be the guidance and counselling dept in every higher institution to help those in need

You did not read what the OP wrote and you are writing nonsense. Please go back and read the write up and see whether it is related to what you just wrote above.

Maybe you guys should have been renamed MAULAG (Moshood Abiola University of Lagos) back then! This is not befitting for UNILAG. What a travesty!

Why should university students be unable to spell.

This story is absurd and is a disgrace to the Geography department and Unilag as a whole.
I'm a student of the dept and I have been taught by this lecturer and I can boldly say the punishment was obviously a JOKE.
I don't understand why a student would want to destroy the reputation of not just his department and the lecturer, but also the reputation of the students in the pix.
Mr Ogunkunle might not be the best in terms of Lecturer- Student relationship, but I know it hasn't gotten as far as him punishing students on a serious note.
