What's the noise all about? CU is the only Nigerian University among the Top 10 African Universities (Computer Science); and it ranked 3rd just behind University of Johannesburg (1st) and Cairo University (2nd).

We Nigerians just argue blindly without facts. Why will the lady's company hesitate to employ CU's Comp. Sci graduates when they are the best in terms of rigorous practicals and not just basics unlike Fed. Uni, exposure (most of them goes for summer camp in UK Universities during holidays), uninterrupted power supply to enhance effective learning since inception of CU amongst other...

If you own a company, won't you want to hire the best? Or you want to keep an intelligent fool on your pay roll? (but the bolded word in this context is not actually referring to Fed. Uni graduates alone) cos I'm also a UI undergraduate.

In conclusion, the honest truth is that, there are numerous Fed. Uni genius but CU's Computer Science Department deserves credit here cos they are representing this nation as a whole at the international stages.
Bros, Abeg, I take God beg you, next time you want to tell lie, make sure it is the dark one that can't be debunk. Which of the covenant university is in to 10 in Africa? Covenant university is not even in top 50 in Africa. No come here to tell fabu here. Do you think you are dealing with fools. No Nigeria university is in top 10 abeg, the first Nigeria university is in 11th position which is Unilag, followed immediately is amhadu bellow university in 12, UI makes it three in 15 position, UNN is no 20, Unilorin is 24, OAU takes 32 position, Futminna is no 50, Covenant is no 58. Cairo university. Cairo university self na 14 in africa. Bros lie small abeg n do research before posting. Thanks.

Well, I really feel expanding their faculties won't be a bad idea. And I don't think it would erode the quality of programmes being offered. Check out most top ranking universities in the US and UK... They have a large pool of courses one can choose from, even at Post graduate level.

A major problem with Nigerian universities is that they are always trying to bite off more than they can chew. If all a university can fund and manage very well is a few courses like economics, engineering etc., there really is no point also adding other courses it can't manage including the ridiculous ones like 'economics education'.

I think the argument is stupid myself. I serve on the board of a Venture Capital, Distribution Company and a real estate agency, the person who leads the three subsidiaries is a graduate of Delsu while the majority of the other guys are from Federal Unis. Our Tech Lead Guy is a Covenant grad. So I have seen a pool of smart individuals from both sides of the aisle and I admit that there are equally unemployable folks from both sides too.

Now that makes a whole lot of sense, I see no reason for comparison. It makes no sense.

see as e de pain you. But it was easy to say those in public universities sorts. So the external examiners consideration doesn't include the public schools? The only space external examiners work is in private universities.

The public schools in your place needs help, if that is the case.

Learn not to generalize . I attended a public school. It's practically impossible to sort your way through.

When people talk of "sorting", I find it strange cos our system did not allow it. If it was that easy, those influential people and children of professors , heads of department, Deans , lecturers, etc, won't be having issues of failure like everyone did on campus.

If it's not about Oyedepo or Winners, it's about how private schools are better than public. But with the poor knowledge he possesses on issues, it's very obvious which is better.

Insecure simpleton.
I think you are obsessed with winners bro. Oyedepo is not on your level and you probably would never be on his. If you have an issue with him you know your way to Canaanland.

Now You've not contributed anything meaningful to this thread. I have no use of your "public universities". If they were so good the children of your politicians who run them wouldn't all be scattered over Europe, Americas and even Nigerian privates studying. So get a grip of your insecure self.

Daft salvos of display of confidence?
.If there's anything peculiar about Private Uni products, it's their unrivaled inferiority complex.

What would a graduate of AUN or Pan Atlantic University feel inferior for not attending OAU. Do you think we are talking about Madonna or Alhikmah university here. You need exposure bro, go to the good private universities and see sons and daughters of your corporate titans schooling. It's just like saying a graduate of Ambassadors college or Loyola Jesuit or Faith Academy is feeling inferior to someone from Lagos State High School Agege(which I graduated from by the way).

Next time do your research before jumping to attack people. He was making reference to an Elsevier Ranking of Computer Science Research. Elsevier in case you don't know is where all universities drop their quality research work - including the likes of Harvard, Stanford and co. The particular ranking you were referring to is a 4icu.org ranking that is completely unacceptable by Nigerian Academia because it only measures the Popularity of Websites

Truth be told 1st class from Unijos and 1st class from Covenant are not the same. People will prefer the ones from Covenant because they know they teach very well.
Just like my siblings studying medicine who had to leave Madonna for Esut cos of the increase in fees, during their exams dey beat the students of Esut hands down.

long story.

nobody with paper will send his pikin to a nigerian public university.

strikes, cults, incompetent lecturers, poor facilities
people like to talk s if going through this retardation is something to be proud of, when all that really happened is that energy that should have been directed at developing yourself was wasted on basic survival.

Too apt. Energy that you're meant to conserve for your personal development, exploring your creativity is always wasted on basic survival. Story of my university. It's so sad. You worry about things that are supposed to be readily available like water, light, accommodation, etc... Smh

why are you guys so obsessed with private/public uni dichotomy . knowledge is not power , ability make the difference.... the competency of an individual is what count not the formal education that you received. anyone will be more than willing to employ bill gate the university drop out before a first class graduate of Harvard,Oxford, Cambridge etc . because of the potential ability. Albert Einstein, the great scientist perform poorly in college and sadly he was a high school dropout, but fortunately for him his ability make him a top notch today in science world not his poor academic grade or the college he attend..

Our education system need a total revamp , we need to move from theoretical system of education to pure practical base with much invested interest on research... the German/japan education system is very impressive model, it is not ratted as high like the USA or UK schools but i can belt you that an International companies will prefer a German graduate to USA/UK graduate not because of knowledge but simply because of the abilities. this is why china is developing very fast. our ability should be well prioritized above knowledge.....so that the difference can be made.

Lol.

Oyedepo is not on my level. There's nothing about that man that is worth emulating to me. Fortunately I'm not an excessive ass kisser like you. Saying I may never be on his level. Oh because I wouldn't want to exploit and make money off poor people thru threats and subtle blackmail? Lol. Imagine someone, a mortal man slapping a girl because she said "she's a witch for Christ". imagine the display of braggadocio. In saner climes he'd have been arrested for such abuse.

I don't blame the way you reason. You are a members of Winners. You attended Its university. I don't expect you to be in your right frame of mind. Na. So your sentimental arguments are very understandable.

Lool this one is the king of self delusion. But just so you know, the president of Uganda's son attended AUN. Former VC of Unilag, Unical's kids attended Covenant, same with Fayose's son who snubbed EKSU for Covenant. It seems the unfortunate one is really you.

Talking about accredited faculties, Covenant and AUN have never lost an accreditation since they were founded. We can't say the same for your poo federal Unis. Covenant surpasses OAU in all lastly accredited PG courses. I advise you to check NUC website for proper guidance before reeling out crappy opinions.
