This is what i have always told people. They say it doesn't matter what one studied in school and that one CAN WORK ANYWHERE. What's the point of going to the university to study a science course like biochemistry only to end up working in a bank where knowledge of biochemistry would not be applied I wonder the satisfaction one would derive from that.

People should choose courses they can apply at work, period.

I haven't seen any job opening that requests for graduates of Zoology or Botany. None.
Microbiology and biochemistry are even better.

This is not the first time OAU will lose accreditation for Law. It also happened in 2006, I believe. They will sort it out because the accreditation system is very robust and all the areas where you have shortcomings are clearly spelt out so you can address it. UI also lost their Law accreditation in the 90s. The only unblemished Nigerian university when it comes to accreditation is UNILAG. The Law faculty is still the only one with FULL not PROVISIONAL accreditation. They don't play with any of the criteria needed for full accreditation. They had issues with Architecture several years ago but resolved it.

It is not a must you know, the news is everywhere? Even the PRO of your school attested to it, didn't you read the article properly. Your school do not have the facilities to offer those courses. They should work on that.

That university could have been the best in Africa but you know Yorubas and their way with maintenance culture. The entire magnificent structures have been abandoned to rot, with every empty land overtaken by thick forests that sometimes pop out lions and crocodiles. All they do is appropriate moneys for personal use. Nigeria has no university, sorry. Terrible country!

I am not misinfirming anyone, it's my opinion and a lot of fellow graduates of these same courses has agreed with my opinion. I doubt you studied Zoology or Botany. Because, if you did, you won't be saying this.

I have classmates who even proceeded to get their Msc in top universities in Nigeria, and till date, No job. A lot have resigned to fate by taking up teaching appointment.
As some more reasonable peeps observed earlier in the thread, it's not really the course, but rather the country. Zoologists and Botanists are Meant to be researchers, but we do not have research institutes(those we gave are government owned) and you know how government employment goes.
As a graduate of zoology, I ended up looking out for graduate trainee programs and Bank Jobs because, they are open to all field.
As I reiterated, I work with one of the Big 4, life is cool, but I Zoology offered me nothing even with a 4. CGPA and being the second best graduating in my set.

I believe I owe it to the young ones to inform them to seek for a better course early.
