As you know all too well, any topic on Biafra and related issue is basically a Igbo Vs Others discussion and tribal rants are unavoidable. WE think that is teh best section for it. It can still continue to expose whatever truth you want to expose in the current Tribalism section.

Every suspect would be shown the old three pence, and asked to identify the coin. Three pence was called Toro by all and sundry in kaduna, the Igbos however pronounced Toro as Tolo. Once a suspect is found and identified as Igbo by anyone in the Araba mob, he/she was summarily beaten to death, burnt in some cases, and all of the belongings found in the victims' houses were looted (hence Araba). Those that pronounced toro as tolo were also summarily beaten to death.

The mob went from street to street, house to house, in search of Igbos, killing the unlucky ones that could not escape. The most interesting thing about the mod is that, well over 50% was made up of Yorubas, old Mid Westerners, and other southerners who were eager to participate in the araba and possibly save their own skins. These non Northerners were the first to shout yamiri or throw the first stone. They also did most of the looting.

My brother, it is amazing what a mod can do. Many people who, under normal conditions were angels, became animals. May this never happen again in Nigeria. [/b]

The fact that the posts contains uncomfortable facts does not make it tribalist. The post belongs in the politics section. The Araba pogroms were real and they indeed took place.

Dear Moderators,
I am posting this to register my displeasure at the way you ve discriminately erased commentaries on a thread I created: "An Unbiased Look at Philips Emeagwali".
I believe that as a moderator, you must show discretion irrespective of your prejudices and respect other people's prerogatives to air their views whether they conflict with yours or not.
Those posts you so eagerly wiped off in one fell swoop are the honest and sincere opinions of commentators who have been following the Philips Emeagwali stories and allegations, none of them carry any pontentially damaging message or violate the rules of the forum, why you will see it fit for deletion is what I fail to see.
We all must learn to be professionals when heading a department or in position of leadership and that entails not letting your own beliefs interfare with the way you carry out your duties. I bet if that thread was about promoting Nuhu Ribadu, you wont be so eager to delete any of the posts as long as they support his cause.
Finally, your responsibility is to moderate, therefore, it behoves on you to ensure that every thread in your section gets a fair hearing of the public opinion without anyone derailing or killing the thread with alien or potentially damaging discussions that violates the forume rules. Do your Damn Job!

I have never deleted any thread on Emeagwali. If at all I deleted a post, it has to be one of those highly insultive comments, which are unlikely to be made by you, knowing you well on the forum as not somebody given to insults. I'm not aware, too, that other Mods here deleted your post. Maybe spambot is at work here. Sometimes, when posting long, usually but not necessarily copy and paste, posts, spambot strikes, since many spams have these features.

What do I stand to gain in deleting Emegwali thread? I find it funny when guys here say we Mods have hatred for a certain personality or use forum to promote some people. I have been accused of using forum to promote Sanusi, IBB or against Awolowo, Igbo, and now Emeagwali. Igbos accuse me of favouring Yoruba by deleting Igbo threads or sending them to tribalism section, Yoruba accuse me of hating them and Awo. Now which one do we believe? These are things you face in when you deal with people of varying background and levels of intelligence, which we have learnt to manage.

The fact is neither the forum owner, nor we Mods, cares about any personality. We do our jobs to the best of our ability. I remember when I was doing a pro-Sanusi thread lats year, spambot hit and it disappeared. I never accused NL officials then of bias. Now a certain anti-Sanusi nairalander did a thread and Spambot struck again and all I began to hear was I was the one that deleted it.

The same thing here. I personally subscribe to the opinion that PE exaggerated his achievements, but will never use forum privilege to suppress contrary opinions.

Guys, let's try to understand ourselves. Like Ahmadu Bello said, we will laways be different but we can learn to understand our differences.

Strike out the mindset that Mods hate certain person or people. It only leads to suspicion and misinterpretation.

Most times, you get familiarized with buzzwords and abbreviations on any forum through conscious and sub-conscious noting. Overtime, you get used to it. But most abbreviations on NL are those used elsewhere.
