Yet you continue to wail about Osun state that you posted has released 472M for LAUTECH.

What is the PDP govt of Oyo doing about it, At least LAUTECH is on Oyo territory and 80% of the staff and assets are in Oyo State

Osun has its own state University and are not going on strike like Lautech

What Oyo should do is to buy out the stake of Osun in Lautech and fund the school on its own

oyo paid salaries of lautech staff from jan to june. osun is supposed to pay betwen july and dec. osun pays july and part of August. lautech wage bill is around #350m.
osun has refused to let lautech belongs to oyo solely. most of senior staff and lecturers are osun indigenes. akala wanted to pay osun off during the time of oyinlola but aregbesola stopped it.

Governor Seyi Makinde should be worried on why LAUTECH has not been self-sufficient in terms of funding and academic advancement since its creation, while Osun State University which was created a few years ago is making ways financially and academically.

It is a known fact that Oyo had always wanted to own LAUTECH alone but it is our common patrimony and nobody can appropriate it through blackmail or whatever. Osun is not in any way forcing itself on the joint ownership of LAUTECH. The supposed ‘plan to split’ signed by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former governor Alao Akala was a ruse. There is a legal and sincere process to be followed if Oyo state is indeed interested in taking over LAUTECH. Osun government will be happy if Governor Makinde initiates that process.

Osun has always been cheated on LAUTECH: only one (1) out of the eight (cool academic faculties is in Osun, while Oyo has about twice of the staff strength of the University. Osun single-handedly funded the infrastructure development in the LAUTECH campus in Osun; also 85 per cent of the total institution’s infrastructure is in Oyo, whereas funding is equally carried out. Despite this, we are fully committed to joint ownership of our joint heritage.

The dual ownership of LAUTECH is the major problem. As Osun state is not ready to do away with LAUTECH. All they do is comparing LAUTECH with Uniosun. Can you compare a 15 year old expenses to that of a 30 year old? Oyo state salary payment always start from January to June while Osun state is expected to pay from July to December.Lautech strike always fall within June - Dec period when it's time for Osun to pay. May God save the students from epileptic academic calendar

What is the value of lautech, what is Osun state share, can Oyo raise the money in months? Read up on the terms of dissolution before you spew political statement.
The lecturers should better allow an audit of the school so there will be an end to this palava, if lautech with more students and similar fee structure with Osun State university can't survive, then when there is no free money for states (Oyo and Osun) to dash out again, questions would be asked about its operations

A lot of people comments on what they know nothing about or use sentiments in passing judgement. First and foremost, I see no reason why LAUTECH cannot supplement its funds. This is what is being done in most of all the States University (KWASU, AAU, UNIOSUN, OOU, EKSU etc) in Nigeria. There must be accountability and transparency in LAUTECH, I don't know why ASUU, NAAT, NASU and SSANU is not cooperating with both Governments.
There is a laid down procedure of how Oyo State can take over LAUTECH, which it is what is normally done during States creation. Pay off Osun States (N.B Osun would have automatically inherited parts of the debts in old Oyo State, assets and liability are always split between the new and the old state) and take over the University if you want to. They should negotiate with Osun, take over your school and do whatever you want to do with it.

Osun was part of Old Oyo when LAUTECH was established, whatever assets and liabilities both states have would have been shared accordingly. They both opted for joint ownership of LAUTECH and if any of the parties is not interested, you will have to negotiate. Are you guys not aware of Ondo State University Ado-Ekiti (OSUA), there was a pay off arrangement between Ekiti State and Ondo State in which Ekiti had to negotiate with Ondo State, it was after that the birth of Ondo State University OSUA (Now Adekunle Ajasin University) Akungba Akoko came up.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) branch, has suspended all academic activities pending the payment of their unpaid arrears.

Lectures for the new academic session were billed to start on Monday.

The lecturers’ union had earlier issued a 10-day ultimatum to the university to pay their August, September and October salaries or face industrial crisis.

This paper gathered that the academics are being owed cumulative 11 months’ salary arrears by the Oyo and Osun governments.

In reaction to the ultimatum, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Michael Ologunde, was said to have attributed non-payment of the salaries to non-release of subvention to it by the two co-owners, Osun and Oyo.

However, the union at a congress held on Monday, decided to embark on a lecture boycott.

In a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Monday, the chapter’s chairman, Abiodun Olaniran, explained that the union members resolved to suspend all academic activities until the arrears are settled.

In the last two years, LAUTECH has experienced several industrial actions over unpaid salaries and workers’ entitlements.

Moreover, the two owner states, on several occasions, have been at loggerheads over who has defaulted in releasing subventions.

OSUN INTERVENES

On Wednesday, the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, released N472 million for the payment of salary arrears of the staff and its teaching hospital in Osogbo.

According to a letter signed by the State Commissioner of Finance, Bola Oyebamiji, and addressed to the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Oladapo Afolabi, the release of the fund was aimed at ensuring financial stability in the university.

The governor noted that the release of the fund was in line with the earlier agreement reached at a meeting in Abuja between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and himself on the need to ensure “financial stability and sustainability” of the institution.

Although the government claimed to have released money, the workers are yet to be paid.

When PREMIUM TIMES contacted the spokesperson of the school, Fadeyi Olalekan, he said he is not aware of the industrial action as he is currently in Ibadan.

Meanwhile, some students of the institution who spoke with this reporter confirmed the lecture boycott.

“The Division of students’ affairs has addressed us. They told us the lecturers will be coming to the office but won’t lecture,” a student, Hamzat Mariam, said.

audit has been difficult because of osun-oyo dichotomy. it is only sole ownership that can liberate the university.
lautech just increases school fees closer to uniosun now but issue is that staff strength of lautech is more than uniosun.
osun is not ready to give up lautech. if osun is ready, issue of payment will be sorted out. such payment will be in instalments.

Osun only wants chunk of the cake(money), it's the school (staff) that declined audit, both states agreed to it.
The terms of dissolution and payment is not favourable to any party, except you involved the state house of assembly of both states to alter it which is highly unlikely with the current situation of things.
The drafters of the sch memo and article never thought of a day like this, or should I say they did and put those clause so no party uses undue influence over the other.

I don't know the terms of dissolution of Ondo/Ekiti, on that of Osun/Oyo, the terms were revealed by the State Attorney General sometimes during Oyinlola's tenure, Oyo(Akala) took Osun to supreme court then and it was held that Oyo cant solely claim ownership even if Osun now has its own university without fulfilling the terms and conditions stated in the dissolution.
As you can see, Oyo only result to political blackmail, they have at no point kickstart motion for dissolution, because it's a very difficult and unfavorable process.
I wish there can be away the university can get their fund at source directly from the FG in the state govt account, so no need for the incessant strike, but the FG should also ensure the staff submits to the audit process

Ajimobi wanted a restructed tuition to complement Government Allocation(in a school where many are yahoo boys and olosho yet they want to pay next to nothing for education)

Ajimobi refused to slash Oyo's Federal Allocation by over 40% to cater for just one school filled with all sort of characters

He refused to give them any kobo unless they subject all their staffs both lecturing and non lecturing to be captured in Oyo State Payroll system

You're really shallow and dumb.

Many of them are Yahoo and Olosho. Out of over 25,000 students, less than a tenth are the rubbish you described and the other majority all have to suffer for that. What sort of an idiot are you really?

The university is fundamentally sick, burdened with corruption at every level. Sex for marks, money for sorting, selling/buying of grades, etc. The only university with "arrangee" appointments to pass accreditations.

Yet they deceive themselves as the best state university. No functional laboratory, outdated smelly and almost empty library (sorry reading room). However, if oloshos and internet fraudsters are awarded LAUTECH is likely to be ranked amongst the top 10 in the world.
Re: LAUTECH Lecturers Embark On Indefinite Lecture Boycott Over Unpaid Salaries by matrixme(m): 5:15am On Nov 19, 2019
It all boils down to the fact that government policy makers are stupid in Nigeria. Two states cooperated to form a university like if it is a project as expensive as building a colony on the moon. Since the inception of the stupid idea, the institution has never had it good. They should probably sell off to a private investor and stop already with their failed marriage. Then again, it is innocent student's that bear the burden. They all cannot allow their children near the gates of the university. We know this. Idiot states!
