my department in unibuja had just 3 active lecturers.
5 innitialy, 2 went for study leave.
1 among the two doesn't seem interested in the job again cos since my 2015 till date she hasn't return.

When they came to accredit the dept, they had to borrow staffs and claim we had 26 lecturers.
I mean from 5 to 26 how comes
when people shout unemployment, I tell them government isn't the cause. The average Nigerian is wicked to the bone marrow. Yet he comes out to blame buhari. Buhari is the best thing that has happened to us. Imagine with ippis, the number of people who will be employed to cover up the theft that has gone on in the system for years. Our problem has never been buhari. We are just very wicked.

ASUU have proposed an alternate platform that captures their peculiarity and is not against the Constitution....AG agreed to integrate the UTAS from ASUU to the IPPIS to form a uniform system but last minute they change it to no pay or register....who is fooling who in this country??

They want to make it look as if their no pay order is what will make ASUU to register. Meanwhile they reached some level of acceptance of the software that ASUU. gave them

ASUU is not against IPPIS but against the structure

You are obviously misinformed. The Union did not rejects IPPIS on sentiment, there are reasons behind the rejection some of which are legal in nature. Until those legal issues are sorted out, no progress can be made.

PMB is open to dialogue on the issue. They wanted him to publically humiliates ASUU during that meeting but he didn't. In stead he bypassed state protocol and directed Minister of Education to act on the Union submission and gets back to him. A responsible aide would have waited for the outcome of the President's directive before taking any further action. But no, the agents of darkness are desperate to plunge the country's university system into crisis.

ASUU is their match. The Union is already aware that the President has nothing to do with this directive. It is the plan of few people around him who are obviously benefiting from it.

It is going to be a long battle.

Always sounding More like a Army general in my ears cool

He is an errand boy. This directive did not originate from him. PMB has given directive to minister of education to look into ASUU's grievances on IPPIS and reports back to him. And few weeks after someone is bringing up this circular. It has to be someone very close to the President. Someone who has no regards to the President's directive.

I know an institution where close to 600 people have been recruited between October last year and now. As at last week, letters were still being issued. Some 'slots' were sold for very high amounts while other slots were given out as bribes to highly placed officials to keep sealed lips and looj the other way. Curiously, the employment letters were dated December 2018 while the recipients are yet to assume duties but have been hurriedly smuggled onto the IPPIS platform!!!....NONE OF EMPLOYEES WERE RECRUITED ON MERIT........in a tertiary institution!!!!!

This possible because the President of the country failed to live up to expectation as the Visitor to all federal universities. He is suppose to constitute visitation panels every 5years who will audit what each university is doing and report back to him for necessary action. The last time such was done is more than 10years ago and no action was taken against any individual found wanting.

You can't fail in your supervisory responsibilities and blame others for the consequences.

Most Nigerians are too criminally minded. Government has to be firm to effect radical change from the any previous dubious way of doing things because the resistance will be fierce most especially from a strong body like ASUU.

I am surprise you called violation of the laws of the land 'firmness'. No matter how good a policy is, it MUST respect the laws of the land.

Unfortunately, that's the practice in many universities. They are not newly recruited staff. They are mostly visiting lecturers, sabbatical staff, and so on.

What arant nonsense is ASUU saying pls? Can a Piper refuse the tone of his payer?

Look at this scenario:
Like I was employ and being paid in cash monthly and no agreement on mode of payment ooh but only terms and conditions.

Maybe after some years my employer request for my account details that he want to transfer my wages there instead of given me cash as before.

I refuse transfer and start protesting for this mode of wages payment by my employer and threat that I will not follow his request.

Plis if you are my employer, what would you do to me or to the situation?

You do not need any analogy. Just look at the laws establishing the universities and your answer will be there. ASUU did not rejects the principle behind IPPIS. It rather rejected the way it is being currently operated.

Each federal university is a creation of law. It is administration is governed by that law. The law has given council of that university power over general administration of university. Nobody in the country, not even the President of the country who is also the visitor to the university, can take way such power without following due process.

A centralized payroll can not work in Federal Universities because of this legal issue. The best FGN can do is individualized IPPIS to each university and that what ASUU is advocating.

What I do not understand is that ASUU which is supposed to be made up of academia and at the forefront of using IT based solution to solve problems are the ones opposing IPPIS whereas a certain GMB who they claimed does not even have school Cert is the one pushing for the modern use of solving problems technologically.
The irony is too difficult for me to grasp.

The union is not opposed to principles behind IPPIS but the methodology is against the laws establishing the universities. The union has developed an alternative to IPPIS which minister of education is currently working on but people in government don't like that for their selfish agenda.

They are always looking for reason to strike, a law should be passed to stop excessive strikes and limit lengths of strikes in certain sectors like education etc.

Honestly I commend your patience. These explanation should help any discerning mind.

Don't be fooled. IPPIS is not targeted against ASUU as ASUU member would make you feel. It's aimed at curbing irregularities in the university system. You can even see already how, before implementation, universities have been running around to cover their tracks.

Don't see IPPIS as a war against ASUU. Every other union including law enforcement agencies have registered and has saved unnecessary deductions from their accounts.

What he/she just said is :
The job position the 600 in question got , should naturally be open to all Nigerians who are qualified . Irrespective of tribe provided they are qualified .
But sadly those Nigerians never did got the chance and 600 people were picked so even if they are over qualified for the job or the best fit .
They never did got it on merit Cos they were PICKED . With some sort of illegality

I have said it several time, ASUU big boys are the ones against the enrollment, they don't care about the students, just imagine the kind of employment that took place in almost all the tertiary institutions late last year and still on going, ASUU will eventually join the system they are buying time for themselves to cover their tracks. FG is holding them in their balls because they know that there are alot of financial misappropriations.

The Union made a submission to the President of the country, he then directed the minister of education to act on the submission and report back to him. The minister has been having meetings with the Union and all of the sudden someone is bringing this on.

Someone in the Villa is not happy with the progress been made in resolving the issues by minister of education.

Hmm, I think this is more like a narrative from the point of view of the non-complying membership of ASUU.

Potch:
What you need to understand
1. University management is run by the Vice Chancellors, DVCs, Registrars, Bursars and principal officers. ASUU members do not run universities but are critical members in Nigerian university system. If there are recruitment irregularities, the university management and the governing councils should be held responsible and not ASUU.

2. ASUU like any other organisations has some bad eggs but they're insignificant and this cannot erase what ASUU has achieved over the years in in making sure that university education is accessible to everybody. In fact, the reason why the government-ASUU negotiations have broken down is that the federal government through its representatives are proposing school fees of between 300k-500k for students in tertiary institutions. ASUU is currently fighting this!

3. The issue of IPPIS is complex. IPPIS is not owned by the government. It is owned by some people and in fact, the AGF is alleged to have some stakes in it. IPPIS too is not immune to irregularities. However, ASUU is not against IPPIS but wants some issues to be addressed and federal government is currently engaging and studying the alternative template designed by the ASUU.

4. More than eighty percent of university lecturers are yet to be enrolled into IPPIS. If salaries are stopped this month, ASUU will invoke NO PAY, NO WORK . I pray the circular is fake!

I call BS propaganda. Medicine after death. IPPIS, even with its imperfections, has come to stay. Deal with it.
