A sheep has been bought for £367,500 (₦188,584,142.44) at an auction, the price makes it the most expensive sheep to have ever been sold.

Pedigree Texel ram lamb Double Diamond was sold to three farmers at the Scottish National Texel Sale in Lanark on Thursday.

The opening bid was £10,000, with Charlie Boden and his family from their Sportsman’s flock in Stockport, Greater Manchester, pocketing the final bid.

According to Sky News, one of the buyers, Jeff Aiken, flock manager at Procters Farm said that a lot of breeders had their eye on Double Diamond as he was a “special animal”. He said:

I knew he was going to be a lot of money but I wasn’t expecting him to make that much. He’s just an outstanding animal. He’s a massive lamb with great confirmation and character, some of which is what breeding is all about. But with the pedigree you start looking at the smaller details of the lamb, you look at his head, the hair colour, the colour around his eyes, legs, he was just perfect in every way.

Aiken accepted £367,500 was ‘an obscene amount of money to pay for a sheep’ and ‘should not be a reflection on the farming community’.

Everyone that commented on this thread saying that the price they paid for it is a waste of money, I'm sorry to say that y'all are useless and stupid this is one of the many reasons why we are still consider animals in Africa, you guys don't think well later y'all would say you went to school, ok enough of the insults once again no offense but it has to be said now let me tell you guys why people would buy that sheep for that amount, I can see some of you saying it would end up in your mum's pot, SMH the sheep wasn't bought to be consumed it was bought for breeding and this is not your normal Nigerian sheep this sheep I almost perfect because if you look at the little details of the lamb, you look at his head, the hair colour, the colour around his eyes, legs, he was just perfect in every way. And if they cross breed this sheep with many other sheep that they have, they can use it for exclusive rugs and mats that can sell as high as 2M/one and when it mates with other female sheep it is somewhat possible for the female sheep to give birth to another sheep like him, so with that sheep they are going to make alot of profit, not everything is about food. Dumb ass MFS once again I'm sorry for the insults but it was necessary
