I’m On A Mission To Rescue Nigeria –buhari ! by wales(m): 8:42am On Mar 03, 2011
Former military head of state and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Maj.-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday in Kaduna began his campaign, saying he was on a mission to rescue Nigerians from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Addressing the huge crowd of supporters that thronged the Murtala Square for the campaign in Hausa, Buhari stressed that the CPC would not tolerate any attempt by any party to rig the April elections. Flanked by his running mate, Pastor Tunde Bakare; the CPC National Chairman, Prince Tony Momoh; and other party chieftains, Buhari called on Nigerians to use the opportunity provided by the elections to bring about a change in the country.

“We are today facing an uncertain future in an uncertain world. It is vital Nigerians make the right choice about who would look after them in the next four years. I’m standing here today as the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change.

“I consider myself to be on a rescue mission. Never before have we seen such bad leadership in our national life. The country’s life is literally falling apart on all fronts on security, in education, on the economy, in the health care system and youth employment. Many critical observers have begun to list Nigeria among the failed states of the 21st century,” Buhari said.

Commenting on the role of the PDP in the nation’s affairs in the past 12 years, Buhari said Nigeria had become internationally recognised for corruption, inefficiency, business uncertainty and infrastructural decay.

He said, “For 12 years, the PDP government has failed to tackle all these problems in spite of the resources at their disposal. We can and we must reverse these trends. The first step is for Nigerians to vote PDP out. They are finished. They have passed their sell-by date.”

Also speaking, Bakare urged supporters of the party to use their votes to chase the PDP out of power, noting that the time for change had come.

In his address, Momoh described the CPC as the fastest growing party in the whole world, stressing that its teeming supporters that attended the occasion were not ‘rented’. However, the expected symbolic presentation of flags to the party’s governorship candidates in some Northern states did not take place, owing to the controversy that has continued to trail its primaries.

Although the claimants to the CPC’s governorship tickets in Katsina, Kano and Bauchi states were present at the rally, none of them was called forward to receive the party’s flag.

It is unfortunate that General Buhari has not spread his message through out Nigeria.because of his past antecedents of being strict , discipline and loyalty to Nigeria, he has shown that he possibly has what is takes [if age has not taken the bite out of him ].he has not been seriously campaigning and perhaps because of that singular fact , he is likely to lose the next presidential election .

On a mission to rescue Nigeria from the mess he and his military colleagues put her?

Nope, you are so wrong.
Actually he's on a mission to save Nigeria from the mess Jonathan and the gang have made us to witness in the last 12 years.
You forgot to read the part where he said the PDP led government had more revenue at their disposal in 12 years than the total amount of revenue available for development before the last 12 years (i.e from 1950 to 1999).

Yes Buhari is on a resuce mission to save Nigeria from the shameless dimwits in PDP.

If you believe he can move Nigeria in the right direction, then you are duty bound to preach his message. Buhari does not have the luxury of the loot which is available to GEJ of PDP and Ribadu of ACN, yet his message keeps resonating across the country.
Join hands with him to lift Nigeria out of the cesspit of corruption that GEJ and the Gang have continued to lead us into.

You have defintely been paid. Otherwise why would you even mention Ribadu when talking about loot? Stop being dirty! we all have one common enemy whether you are interested in politics or not and that is PDP.

At least none of you GEJ cronies has been able to come up with corruption charges against Buhari, the government he led and in fact the organizations he headed. Stop making lame attempts at mixing the chaffs with the seeds.

He had to join a party. Besides the only staetes where there is good governance in Nigeria (Lagos, Edo, Ondo, Anambra) are all ACN controlled states, i bet u can't argue on that! That was his reason for joining ACN.

You are talking about Tinubu, how about Mohammed Abacha in CPC?

and has allegations against Ribadu been proven? Even the allegations against him came up as a result of the feet he stepped on when he was pchairman of the EFCC. It shows that when u fight corruption, it fights back. PDP means corruption and that's Nigeria's enemy! Buhari or Ribadu, I don't mind any.

Have you seen Buhari hobnobbing with Mohammed Abacha? In case you are not aware, Buhari is not in support of his candidacy, hence the problems surrounding CPC governorship candidate in Kano.

Democracy dividends CANNOT be obtained through ACN - Autocrats Congress of Nigeria- old men imposing their wives, kids, in-laws, relations and maybe even househelps on their party members.
Progress CANNOT come from ACN- Alliance for Corruption in Nigeria with Tinubu as their leader.
Shine your eyes(and ask your folks & friends do likewise), identify, scrutinise, select and mobilise support for your national and state assembly legislator candidates on individual merit basis NOT blindly on party basis.
Re: I’m On A Mission To Rescue Nigeria –buhari ! by sleekman(m): 1:11pm On Mar 03, 2011
We are in support of your rescue mission. It's about time we get out the band of thieves in government. We need credible leaders that have a vision and we can trust in goverment. We need people who can build our institutions to function properly.
The mamoth crowd in Kaduna sends fear down the spine of the PDP. The change blowing around the world is coming to Nigeria.PHCN dead, Customs dead, Police dead. Revival of these institutions is paramount.
Fear not Buhari/Bakare for the Lord is with you and the people are solidly behind you.

This is because i ve tried in vain to find any difference btw DEM and BUHARI.
All found is their similarity which includes:
1.BUHARI once seized power by force and sent DEMOCRACY packing, returning us to SQUARE 1
2.He paved way for d BIGGEST atrocities of IBB & ABACHA,IBB borrowed a leaf from him and annulled d ADJUDGED-FREEST election in our History
3.BUHARI came back to serve under the DARKEST govt in our history,d genoicide and torturing of ABACHA to NIGERIANS was not even enough reason for him to resign.
4.he would still ve bin in power, just like Ghadaffi, ben alli, mubarak.IF not 4 IBB who borrowed a leaf 4rm him & toppled him.!

Buhari is trying to work on his antecedents as a disciplined man when he was in power. I remember that there was a high level of discipline at that time, which declined terribly when Babangida came into power. I guess he wants to replicate the discipline of the good old days with zero tolerance to corruption

COME RAIN COME SUN,Goodluck Jonathan Eberechukwu MUST WIN THE APRIL ELECTION.
Don't waste your vote by voting a lost candidate. What is buhari coming back to do? He is too old with old ideas. This is not military era. Let him go and rest or be ready to accept shame of  defeat at the poll come april. GJE is our president and will keep the good work on.
NIGERIAN'S PLEASE VOTE THE MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE.
The problem with Buhari is not his life age but his age of experience incivilized governace.
Re: I’m On A Mission To Rescue Nigeria –buhari ! by 9ijaMan: 2:06pm On Mar 03, 2011
I'd rather vote an old Buhari with OLD ideas than a young GEJ with NO ideas.

Ten reasons you should not vote for jonathan:

Clueless Leadership - The main misfortune of the Jonathan presidency is the lack of drive that has characterized it from its inception. Jonathan found greatness trust on him and has no idea of what to do with it. The reason we cry out against poor leadership in Nigeria is because Nigeria offers the greatest opportunity for any sound leader to prove himself. Jonathan's leadership is clueless in regards to tackling the myriads of problems bedeviling Nigeria and if offered the next 50 years to rule he would do nothing.
Nigerians Seeking Something New - If the truth be told this country has been ruled by the same set of people and thier initiates, and Nigerians are seeking for something new. Those who are opting for the Jonathan ticket are people who are hardly thinking the man through. Many of his adherents some weeks ago have switched camp to Buhari as they are gradually reallising he has got nothing to offer them in the new republic.
End to the PDP misrule - PDP has ruled this nation for the past 12 years with nothing to show for it. Analyst say that the revenue we have earned from oil in this past 12 years surpass all we ever earned since the nation was birth in 1914! PDP and their cohorts have fed themselves fat on this nations' resources and the cry in most places now is "anything but this politically demonized people or people destroying people sect"!
End to Waste - The Jonathan presidency is touted as the largest ever in the world (or at least in our nation's history). The man in want of what to use money for created a special assistant to the Diaspora! Foreign reserve is depleted and the naira is being treatened with devaluing, the man has opened the nation to becoming a dumping site for tokunbo cars and cloths. The national assembly is passing bills daily increasing their remuneration under his nose and his doing nothing, etc.
End to Psychophancy - I wonder if Jonathan was to come on his own merit wihtout the absurd incumbency factor, if he would we even win his home state, talk less of Nigeria. Everyone is singing Jonathan for his stomach sake and for those who do it on the internet, it is because they are not thinking!
Opportunity for a Sovereign National Conference - President Good luck Jonathan has never for once mentioned the issue or the possibility of an SNC. If a referendum is to be held in Nigeria I bet a large percentage would opt for a split (even if not a major percentage). There are many people groups who feel cheated in this country and who need to voice their opinion in an SNC. The present constitution is said to be made by the military and an SNC can help map out another. Also the Niger Deltans need to tell us what they want so this incessant militancy in that part can stop. And so on.
Good Riddance to this "Dame" Thing - One of the greatest irritants and misfortune to the GEJ government is the re-enactment of the office of a first lady. A ROGUE OFFICE THAT IS NOT EVER NAMED IN OUR CONSTITUTION. Worst still, unlike the mesmerizing Maryam Babangida, this one is an embarrassment to Nigerians everywhere she speaks. Can this nation endure the existence of another DAME in the corridors of power. Lest we forget, the corruption charges hung on her at the inception of her husband's tenure has not been proven wrong but only swept under by our Farida's toothless EFCC. What also is this parallel campaign this woman is carrying out with state money for her husband.
Cheating the Incumbency Factor: Jonathan would have gone into Nigeria's history book as one who organized free and fair elections, and did not take advantage of the power of incumbency if he had not chosen to run for office. We would have sought for him in some years to come to come and rule. Instead he chose the path of ignominy. The power of incumbency will fail this time around.
Nigeria needs more than Goodluck! - Nigeria needs good governance; we need insightful, visionary and purposeful leadership; we need a leader with drive, who can think for himself and not one who has won over his supporter with a cloak of false humility. We need more than goodluck; we need goodgovernance.
The end of OBJ Influence - Jonathan should not be voted for so we may rid ourselves from this evil from Owu. OBJ has a certain aura of evil around and until God's judgment falls on him, Nigerian would help themselves by ridding themselves of him when they do not vote Jonathan because he just a pun in the hands of the Abeokuta old warlord: that unrepentant apostle of Do or Die Politics.

THE Difference is very clear.
Ghadaffi amass a lot of wealth home and abroad, he is still a millitary man and you remember that recently, UK just blocked his attempt to transfer about £900million personnal cash.
Now this is Buhari who was a former head of state, former head of PTF where he was controlling hundreds of billion of dollars. Will you believe if i tell you that this man does not have a single building in Abuja. Is that not rare?  No foreign Account or multiple and questionable local accounts unlike these days politicians. buhari is now a civillian man, he will need the authorization of NASS for many things he will do. So i have no fear about him. It's the rare qualities in him that i'm voting for. Nigeria needs such a man at this rotten state.

Fashola got to Lagos and demolished many structures that even some millitary men dare not attempt, it was painful at first but now are they not enjoying it? Lagos is now very neat and with high level of orderliness.
Sometimes we dont need pampering to get things right. Thanks.

Even the way he sounds shows that this man can never experience reform himself. We will vote for Jonathan to save ourselves and protect the future of our children. God bless Nigeria.
