Sorry can you be more explicit on the bolded, by detailing what it entails?

The bills captured in the rent include all utilities from electricity, gas for heating, bin disposal to unlimited home wifi. Every appliance you need from washing machines, dryer, electric Cookers and oven, freezers and fridge, and virtually anything, furnishing and appliance you need in a kitchen are available.

Only thing the landlord avoids is paying up the TV license for the living room TV but he'd do if we insist. However I can count the number of times I watch TV in the sitting room since there's unlimited wifi for streaming in the room.

The minimum wage in US is $7.25 per hour. In nara, per month, it is N619,136. While they are are talking of raising the minimum wage to l$15, which will be over N1.2 million per month. While in nigeria, minimum wage is dangling between N18,000 and N33,000.
Compare apple with with apple, not with rotten egg. Compare US with UK and compare Nigeria with Niger or Somalia.
I don't think the US even as a joke try to compare Nigeria with itself.

Nigeria youths are the most hardworking youth, I have seen in my life but because nothing is working in Nigeria, what can they do?
I have been to over 20 countries in my life and have lived in over 10 countries.
They always respect the Nigerian hustling spirit even if Nigerians involved in drugs.
In a functioning country, most club jobs are done by students because it is the weekend job.

But, shey I said, they also do house carer for elderly or disabled people,
You could have just focused on local domestic stuff.
See, student job is nothing fanciful. Airport people did not need anybody.
When an employer really needs part time staff, they won't bother with any nonsense certificate.
Nigeria may not have an organised way of advertising jobs.
Yes, as I said before, the University had and still has a dedicated section of their website where local businesses place their job adverts and the University careers dept can crosscheck it that it's not 419 and one-chance job.
But in Nigeria, where such service is not available, then the student has to go to LOCAL businesses to beg for a position.
The job I did, was not from Uni website. It was one of my Indian classmate that just told me to phone a number, speak English well and answer yes to all their questions. He was working in that place so he knew all the inside runs.

The difference between Nigeria and the West is not really about how much earned or spent. It is about a system you have confidence in, a system you believe that your hardwork will fetch you the lifestyle you crave. In Nigeria here most people hardwork is just drudgery. Even the ones who made it in Nigeria doesn't even have the faith on their wealth in Nigeria, that is one major reason why the rich in politics continues the mindless uncontrolled stealing because they are faithless that any amount is even enough in Nigeria system. We are doomed to that extent
Another nice insight, if the politicians can still be doing that then imagine what someone hustling legally would do to his little savings.

I'm just smiling reading these.

My rent as a student for my single room when converted from Euro should come to around $650 per month bills inclusive.

Some of my fellow Nigerian students who lost their jobs get almost twice this amount as covid-support from the government per month and have similar, costlier or a bit cheaper accommodation.

OP simply threw figures into the air and forgot the PPP and HDI Index reality. Some countries are truly relatively expensive by cost of living but you simply don't throw standard of living and benefits derived in living dignified (even as a student, now imagine someone that works fulltime) through the window.

When you tell them that a litre of petrol in the US is about N400 and you can pay up to N75,000 monthly electrical bills for a two bedroom apartment and close to a million naira monthly rent even in low brow areas of New York, they don't believe. Heck, even a bottle of Coca Cola is N500. By the way, these are old prices from around 2014. I don't know what prices are like now.
u re wrong bro, if u don't know something pls don't misinform people. Food over there re the cheapest and affordable thing u can get. It is necessity that u eat and food is not a problem. The problem we re having in this country is that the basic things of is hard to get and it's unavailable. I was once both a student and working every day
I worked every day for 4 hrs and I still have to go to college.
Student jobs help you pay for your utility bills and rent nothing more.

YOU MAY AGREE OR DISAGREE.

A 100K monthly salary earner in Nigeria is better than a 400K monthly salary earner in the United States.

The luxury lifestyles some of us live here with 100K, cannot sustain us a day over there. We can’t try such in US and save a dim.

Some of our annual rent here is weekly/ monthly rent over there. Can you pay over 100K naira monthly house rent with 400K monthly salary here in Nigeria? You can’t do that, but you don’t have a choice over there. You pay or kicked out of the house.

Some of our people over there are becoming wiser now. They don’t mind sleeping on the streets, work for at least 5-10yrs, move back to Nigeria with their savings. You cannot survive with 100M living comfortably a year over there. Tax go finish you up. But you can live large with 100M for 5yrs or more here in Nigeria depends on your lifestyles tho.

You don’t pay unnecessary tax here. But in foreign countries you pay almost everything.
In naija you can own 10 cars..not in the United States because you pay for packing space for each car. You get the point now?

Some of our people in diaspora, once they earn $10K in a month or so, depends on the job, they’d send $9K down to their Nigeria account and keep $1K for their upkeep. Some would buy lands and build houses for rent or some other businesses.
If you don’t do that, you’d work all your life and come back with nothing. Those of you on this method are wise. But becareful of the people you send your money to here. Trust no one! Get a trustworthy lawyer involved.

U can make unnecessary noise or play loud music here. You can’t try such over there and not find yourself in police cell.

So you see….We are privileged here. We only need to get bad political leaders off the way. By getting involved in politics, national, state, LGA and community affairs. That’s how American youth you admire, do.

They don’t just fold hands, wailing and waiting for a miracle. They debate, disagree, challenge, involved and create. You get the point now?

I guess you are not considering values of the currencies. What $100 will do, NGN100 can not try it.
They send those dollars because our currency has got no value, by the time you convert to Naira it becomes a lot.

That's because reward is an embarrassment to any Nigeria student in the higher institution, how much does an average Nigeria student spend? Compare that with the time available to study and the amount earned in comparison with his monthly expenses.

When you solve your math right you will see the bullshit in it.
What do you mean when I do my math right?
I've live my life, earned my salary and married my wife and you didn't pay for any of that for me. So what are you teaching me?
-
The reward system in UK is not fantastic either. That's why you always see them drinking beer, getting drunk and committing suicide.
Do you know how many times I went to church and it's only me that is the young guy there? The others are 60, 70 years.
Young people just be working, working, working in UK. Work finish and drink and get drunk.
They take credit card and student loans.
Spend the money anyhow then be owing £20,000 student debt.
That must be paid back and it sends all of them into depression.
The only way to escape it is to run to Australia.
If they remain in EU, the debt will follow them and mess up their credit rating.
When they get a job, government will chook hand and collect that debt back monthly, for years.
Me that went with my Nigerian money, I wasn't owing their government anything. But they still collected tax from the small student job that I did.
-
Sincerely, I spent many hours praying and meditating and asking myself, what am I really gaining in this UK?
I'm seeing the money, but it is disappearing faster and faster as well.

Check out student debt videos on Youtube.

As a Nigerian, are you owning anybody for your school fees?
Shey your parents just paid everything complete for you?

You don't need to reply them, most of them through their comment would prove they don't know anything. They think abroad is all about the rosy pictures and fancy cars.
I had an aunt abroad, she had to relocate back to Nigeria after two years, she now has a big salon at Ibadan, when i asked her why she did not go back to oyinbo land her reason was "It is somebody that has does not know anything that will be saying he want to go and die in oyinbo land".
The problem with this country is self entitlement mentality, this government has spoil us, assuming we are paying for everything shout no go many like this.

I watched a documentary on the life in the US.

So many people are homeless.

They sleep in their cars or some of them use clothes and tarpuline to build a small structure on the road side where they sleep at night.

They cannot afford house rent which is very high.

There are millions of white American citizens who are suffering like this.

Some are jobless and depend on charity.

I was surprised when I saw that documentary.

This sort of thing needs showing regularly on Nigerian TV in order to better inform Nigerians on world realities. And, actually, the West needs to highlight more of these negative aspects of life in the West to help deter migration.

It’s interesting that in spite of the fact that the West would greatly stem the tide of immigration to their shores, by highlighting the negative aspect of life in the West, they never want such portrayals. Narcissism defines white people.
