It is so sad that every Nigerian thinks that if he or she leaves the shores of this country, then automatically his life has become better. True is some instance if you have a plan. But false in many instances. It is so sad how desperate we have become to run away from Nigeria. How are Indians, Lebanese doing so well in Nigeria. Having businesses. Is it not the same Nigeria we complain about they are living in too? Truth is no country is perfect. Even the so called Canada is not perfect. I know friends in the UK who are not doing well at all and wish to relocate back to Nigeria. Life is not about running helther skelther for pastures new. It's about making he best use of the opportunities you have. Once you have money, and live comfortably, you will not feel like leaving Nigeria. Also we also spoilt our own country with our own hands. Now everyone is chickening out. We can make Nigeria work if we put aside religious, tribal sentiments. If we put aside corruption and greed, Nigeria will work. But Nigerians are the reasons why Nigeria will never work because everyone is pursuing one personal agenda or the other. It's so sad..
very sad sad truth, nigerians are their own main problem.

I beg where did your leaders come from? Are they from another country or planet?
Your leaders are a true representation of the people in the country. Your leadership is a microcosm of what you are.
Remove all the present leaders today and replace them with youths on NL, activists, and other ordinary Nigerians and I can guarantee you that it will be the same or even worse.
The fact of the matter is that the average Nigerian is greedy, selfish and have very little concern about their larger community, they care mostly about themselves.
Until you have a large part of your society who actually cares more about othere/community than themselves, you will continue to have the kind of leadership that you have now.
It's not rocket science, it's simple logic.
Truth, truth and nothing but the truth!

Mr. Igwe's story does not and cannot hold one drop of water....

How did Danladi trace him to Lagos State of all places?

He recognised his voice from the phone?

They only burnt his farm but not kill him and fled away with bikes?

They burnt his generator and did not hurt him?

Most Nigerians lack logical reasoning else we would not be where we are as a family, individual and nation....

The Yoruba guy who supposedly fled the North could not go to any of the Western States but could flee to Canada...

They will make it more difficult to relocate this year...
got me laughing grin his generator was burnt by Danladi now Danladi will find him when they deport him.

They were all clearly lying and ruined it for genuine asylees.

Go to UK and; arrest Maiyegun General ;I listen to him daily, preaching the same thing ;Nigeria dissolution.
Yall cant arrest Kanu; legitimately in the UK.
Reason for the illegal extraordinary rendition; simply put "kidnapping" a criminal act.

I repeat there was a Bight of Biafra; before; Nigeria and there will be *the Bight of Biafra ;after Nigeria emanate death.

God bless your mother!

The youths are even worse than the present Crip of leaders we have presently. Orientation manners, behavior and etiquette is 0!

I see cultists taking over the affairs of this country in nearest future. The youth will bring about it. It’s already happening in some states, where you need to be affiliated to even contest.

So sad…

They talk too much.

Smart ones who want to get ahead simply avoid fellow Nigerians.

Nigerians have to be careful and smart with the narrative cooked up for immigration. This a true story about a man that sought refugee status:

The man applied for refugee as a gay man running from prosecution from Nigerian government. This was during Jonathan’s regime. The Canadians accepted his refugee claim and he became a permanent resident.

Four years later, he applied to sponsor his wife and children into Canada to join him. Of course Canadian immigration picked this huge hole of crap in his application. How can you a gay man be married in a heterosexual relationship with 2 children? A man claiming gay now wants to sponsor his wife & children. You can’t make this stuff up

cheesy grin grin he wasn't very smart was he?

Well... maybe he stopped being gay. Then his residency would be revoked and his fake gay ass deported.

He should have just said...SHE IS MY SISTER...lol.

The chap couldn't keep his tale straight.

Modified

The guy should have said that the lady(his wife) is a lesbian, and they were forced by their families to marry each other, after swearing an oath before their local god because their local god punishes gay life with instant death, and that he is sponsoring her to get her out of the bad situation, because the brother of her father's brother's cousin is the high priest of the cult and he is threatening their life.

Okay, it doesn't sound true , even to me. grin
The sister story wouldn't work, they have children. grin

You mean more lies? Upon the one he has already told?

No! It doesn't sound true. cheesy but some nigerians would tell it.

How could they have gone through the legit way with their money? The only way is to buy a house in Canada or marry a Canadian citizen but they are already married with kids and if they are really rich why couldn't they afford to buy a house in Canada? Maybe they are not as rich as you think?
express entry, evaluate credentials, write IELTS or study visa. Nigeria has been in the top 4 of those granted permanent residency for the past 4 years. i also got permanent residency through it. see the thread https://www.nairaland.com/6829885/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled

There are agents in this business but they don't tell people the truth.
Canada has a serious backlog of refugees claims so it can take up to three years for your case to be heard and and two for appeals. In that time, the claimants are allowed to work so this agents use this as advert.
I helped person A ,B, C to Canada and they've been there for 3 years without telling them the true story.

This article said 66% are denied but the truth is closer to 80%. For those that get their cases approved, they cannot visit Nigeria again as the moment they do, their asylum claim with be invalidated.

Very true!

Very very true, if one claims he/she would be killed in nigeria why risk going there?

they do, the process is long and tiring to them. Write ielts, evaluate degrees, do medicals, provide work reference etc, the program also favours younger people due to points for age. I personally know people who qualify for it but chose asylum and it ended in tears.

If the economy of Nigerian is good with good goverance.... nobody will want to escape to other foreign countries to seek for greener pastures and good standard of living over there..it's the bad economy causing all of this with bad goverance and corruption

It sounds like it would be worth the long process. I believe asylum processes takes even longer and there are no guarantees. Asylum could take up to 7 years or more.

Thank you very much. For the first time I have come across a Nigerian who shares the same opinion as I do on Nigeria's predicament. We kept on blaming our leaders for every wrong within our country forgetting that they are a good representation of who we are as a Society. We mostly do not stick to rules but want things to change for the better. The desired change we want in Nigeria should start from us otherwise our situation will only get worse.
