You're right. That's why Mourinho always plays him. Mourinho especially likes instructions to be followed. I remember a player he sent on the pitch as a sub and he immediately calls him off the pitch because his first touch on the ball was against instructions. Crazy fella!

Olafinjana is the worst defensive midfielder to play for Nigeria. Always committing silly fouls.

Pls tell me wat did messi win in football career aside individual awards dat Mikel didn't win as a player... Mike tried his best as a player won so many trophies dat no nigeria player ever won aside KANU...

Mikel disappointingly never rose to his full potentials after rubbing shoulders with Messi at the 2005 u20 World Cup. [/quote]

Let's not continue to deceive ourselves. He never had any shoulders to rub with Leo Messi.

He's simply an average player. Never an outstanding player by any standard. Even by Nigerian standard he has never near the ceilings created by JJ Okocha, Sunday Oliseh and others. He was however lucky to play for a good Club though.

I remember a better yaya toure back then in barca sitting on d bench n a smaller busquets back then was starting ahead of him simply bcoz yaya kept on attacking from dt defensive midfield role bt pep needed a standing 4..
it all boils down to playing what d coach wants.

That wasn't why busquet was choose ahead of Yaya.. Bro U r also right in a way but here is why.. Now let me tell u why busquet was chosen ahead of Yaya you're..

Contrary to you point pep wanted a standing 4 is the reason Yaya was benched big no.. If u watch Yaya attacking runs at barca, he did do them timely and he can or allowed to do so because Barcelona plays a rotational football. 1 feature u must possess to play for barca is technical ability and ability to play in different positions, so yes if pep needed a standing 4, Yaya could have done it and will do it.. When he goes on the run either xavi or Iniesta will do the sitting for him, they (xavi, Iniesta and guardiola) all started and honed their skills as sitting 4 in LA Masia and at the start of their Barcelona career. Again to prove it to you Yaya could stay back if instructed, toward end of 2009 he was shifted to center back, did he make marauding runs from the center back position to offensive play? No he sat back and stuck to his defensive duties.. The difference between Yaya toure and busquet lies in tiki taka.. Ability to receive and play intricate passes in tight spaces and under pressure.. A skill busquet, xavi, Iniesta, Messi, pedro etc learned in LA Masia which few other elites possess.. Let me explain further.. And after I finish go watch a clip of busquet.. When pep guarfiola was barca coach the style barca instil from the academy was founded by Johan cryuff on the. Principle of ball possession and transition with speed from the back where by the emphasis of the speed is on the ball because the ball is always faster than the fastest of men. So when Yaya was 4 then under pressure and in tight spaces, he lost the time of speed factor because his first touch was not at the barca level and need sometimes 2 touch for certain balls but he made up for it by not losing the ball with his big frame and good shielding of the ball (his power) but guess what the opportunity is gone, defenders regroup in those split seconds, runners enter off side etc but with busquet the transition is not lost, he continues the transition and possession with his 1 touch football because he has a high technical ability, in extreme tight spaces and evades defenders he creates attacks with deft touches, feints, drop of a shoulder or even occasional step overs to continues same attack which makes the transition seemless. With Yaya he powers through meaning Yaya was better suited as a box to box player which is why u saw his explosion at man city the moment he got people sitting for him like fernadinho etc. It is no coincidence that busquet was at the heart of Spain most successful midfield and is the most consistent midfielder under different coaches since 2009 in which spain has won different Titles.. So I wil ask to go back and watch busquet in his prime now armed with this information, then u Wil see more than u never saw before... Shalom

Same thing Jorginho, Busquets, Rabiot, Kessie, etc does.... Everyone in a football pitch have a specific role (save for some utility players).

You can't expect a point guard to start "slam dunking"

Emmm, mention just one PG in d NBA that can't dunk or "slam dunk"

This is very false. How can you say these other players do the same thing?

These players u mentioned here even though they are defensive midfielders like Mikel are far far more forward productive than Mikel.

They have the one touch, one movement to change the play from defense to attack.

Mikel hardly ever did that consistently.

There's nothing false there...you can't tell me Jorginho is more attacking than Mikel and as for goals Jorginho scores only penalties

No dey cap abeg..which kain starter? Mikel spent most of his time in Chelsea as 80' substitute. He played second fiddle to Michael Essien. Mikel was only fortunate with those achievements. His only outstanding performance to me was champion league 2012 final.
you can use Google to enlighten yourself. Mikel Obi's statistics are on Google.

Mikel started 186 premier league matches in Chelsea. This means in a 10 seasons spell in the club, he was regular starter every season under every coach. He started at least 18 games per season.

Secondly, bench warmers in Chelsea go on loan, Mikel was never a loan option. No bench warmer lasts 10 seasons in a club like Chelsea.

As star studded as Chelsea FC always is, that statistics is only for exceptional players.

He scored only 2 goals in his 8years career in Chelsea. He likes passing the ball back to his defender to avoid being taken back by the opponent.
