If you have the original documents of the house. You can use to apply for a termed loan in the bank. Rent out the Apartment as well to generate funds so that you can also be funding the loan with some of the money generated from the rent.Schooling in UK has lots of uncertainties that you will find out when you get there don't put all your eggs in one basket. Selling the house is a bad choice be wise
It’s good as loosing the building too . Suppose he secure a loan of 4 million, do you know how many years it will take him to replay the money? And remember some tenants are devilish

Sell it and protect your future

One of the reasons we own properties is to be able to use it as a leverage in time of need. This is that "time of need". The property is your mum's legacy, no doubt. May she rest in peace. Mother's are the most precious gift and I have a belief that If she were to be alive, she wouldn't think twice selling the property to enable you further abroad because she knows you're gonna make it and build better and bigger houses for her. But now she's gone. Even if death, I believe she still wishes you well. Her body can be exhumed and buried in a cemetery. And when you make it later in life, you can immortalize her in other ways
My advice: sell the land and secure your future.

Nobody is saying anything, I will be going with the option of selling the property. The hope of having a better future in a better country is far better than being in a dilapidating building that can not be repaired when something spoils. It's crystal clear that graduates have no hope of good future in Nigeria. I only hope and pray that I don't offend my mum's spirit when I finally do. Cheers
OP I beg you please take my advice. Be sure of the UK admission, then meet relatives and inform them of your intention alongside a well founded church, once they accept to go with you in exhuming the corpse and taking it to another place to bury (village land preferably), you can now sell the land, inform the buyer of your intentions, use part of the money from sale of land to exhume and transfer the corpse, do religious and traditional rites on the new burial ground to pacify her spirits. Then conclude the re-burial and move on with your life. God bless her.

Selling your mum's house is not the only solution there is to funding your masters in the UK, neither will you offend her spirit by selling it. There are many areas you can explore ranging from getting a scholarship to mortgaging your property. Don't justify your action by down grading your mother's house which invariably belongs to you now just to sell it. Let God direct you son.

If you can relocate your mother’s corpse to another place with the full traditional rites involved and with the consent of your family members you are good to go

A dead person is a dead person.. if the dead has power the Mom would have probably gone to Central Bank to bring money to him. Sell the house and go for a greener pasture, have it in your mind that someday you will buy back that building at any cost.....don't let African love and sympathy for the dead blind your future.

I don't know if she will be happy about it

Why don't you seek the eyes of the Lord before you take the step... and probably speak to an elder to advice you...

Moving abroad is very important but you hav to make sure she's in support of this in heaven

God bless you

Approach Wema Bank. I heard there is this student loan they give to study abroad but be ready to use the house for collateral sha. They will finance the study but they question is how do you pay back to retain your mom's house?

One more thing, make sure you have the visa before selling your mom's house. I would have love to give you and expanded thought on it but a bit busy now. However, my advise is don't sell anything till you have a visa stamped on your passport.

Exhume her remains and rebury properly else where, maybe in a cemetery, and go ahead with selling and going to school, cos nobody will buy a property with your mother's grave.

My friend just sold his father's house in Lagos. The parents are dead and are buried there. They will be exhumed and buried somewhere else. It was a collective decision by the children. House was sold for 110M. Do what you must. Make sure her corpse is exhumed and reburied somewhere else. Don't die in poverty.

The op is beyond reasoning. Village People really playing music on his head .it's an abomination before God and man to sell a land with your mother grave on it . Abomination. I wouldn't even advice you to remove her body and bury it in another land . That one is even far greater abomination.disrespect to your mother body .it shows you never respected and value her .

I wouldn't advise you because people like you don't take advice. But you are about to bring curse not only upon yourself but on your children , generation and bloodline.

Go and ahead and sell the land stubborn man. But the money might end up useless in your hand . Your visa might even be denied after wasting all the money. Even if you succeed in travelling abroad to study, you might end up not completing the study or coming out with poor results that is of no use to humanity.

Better go and look for other way to make money. Studying abroad doesn't make one rich . What makes one rich is discovering the talent/ potential inside of you and monetizing it

Pls forget abt the grave part of Ur write up. If there's something very important u have to do and u get a good deal, sell the house asap. But not without the consent of the family.
U may want to re-bury Ur mom elsewhere. To dead shouldn't take the place of the living.

Hmmm...

Anyway, if you feel so attached to the buried soul and still believe the best option for you is to leave the country for a better future, put it up for sale, let the new owners understand you will remove the grave, cremate the remains of what's in there, keep it safe in a container and take it along, case closed...

Seek for guidance from God.
To me sell the property with condition that this grave yard is not part of the land sold, reached agreement with the buyer.in the agreement you will State the years you will come and exhumed your mother to your built house in future.
Don't use the property to collect loan from bank ooooooooo.
You mother Spirit wont be happy with that decision.

Honestly I will prefer renting the house out and source for other means ..... Selling of an only house to fund things like this is a no no for me .....

Honestly I don't see any sense in that .... You have to make sure what ure doing even if you choose to do it can fund all your expenses and not just one portion

Sha na wetin dey ur mind you go do

Go and buy land in another location. Give her a befitting burial just like a remembrance. I don't see anything bad in what you are planning to do. You have to make sure that her corpse is moved away from that location first.
