Tensa, please don't say this! You are a very big influencer here (alongside a few other reliable monikers here). While I agree that school is not a guarantee to succeed, it at the worst case minimises failure. Look at all the big names that dropped out of school: Bill Gates, Oga Mark Nsukkabread, the Google guys. They all made it big primarily because they were way more intelligent than what school could offer. But for every Mark Zuck there are probably a few tens of hundreds others that dropped out that didn't make it. A few millions that stayed in school that at least are earning a decent living. More decent than those that dropped out and didn't make it. You have to have a very high level of intelligence to succeed without some formal education. Let's encourage people to attend schools whether that is Uni or Tech training schools. That way more people are likely to earn a decent living. For every Ronaldo or Messi there are loads of failed footballers. School may not be the ticket to billions but it sure minimises your chances of living in penury

I ought to have changed my jobs last year reasons why I got into salesforce and got certified. I was looking at at least 5000 USD a month but I was bombarded with DSA style interviews everywhere. I am ready and changing this year.

My goal for this year is to hit 7,200 from one job monthly. Set an October target for that but I've been hitting stumbling blocks because I'm looking at Devops, Site Reliability or SysAdmin. You have to be super good to hit these. I vex recently and spent some good money building a home lab to get hands on experience. Servers, switches and routers cost o. But na investment

For some reason which I can't explain, I'm not keen to japa o. I will rather earn close to US salaries here. The life here is less restricted and easier to enjoy here (with money o!) than in the abroad. I'd rather travel to the abroad on short holidays than live there permanently. I don't know why but the abroad no dey trip me I swear.

Well it's understandable. If I earned 33k USD a month, I wont leave I will just a Grenada passport and put in 60k USD in a fixed deposit account there in case the worst happens and stay in Nigeria.

If you are working a programming job don't take a year. Just do leetcode after work. Forget learning any new framework or tool cause some companies have this pair programming sections after leetcode rounds and your programming day job experience will help you there.

Leetcode is crazy. I just paid for premium I am not even good at it and I was able to get to the final stages of a startups interview in Germany. I got 100 per cent in both of the Algo rounds. All the questions I got asked were on leetcode. I failed the behavioral final interview but even passing the Algo interview was a huge deal to me cause as of last year I won't even attempt it. Leetcode is the only way for a software engineer to defeat poverty in his generation forever.

Understanding the pattern of questions is more important than solving 300+ without understanding the pattern

Well for japa jobs, you don try German Blue Card? It's possible to strike gold with that, although German tax nah die and like in most European countries, they don't pay that high (compared to U.S of course) especially if you are going to be staying in Germany.

Funny enough I am not aiming FAANG. Almost every well paying company does algorithm style interviews now. I have gotten hard DSA questions for wordpress developer roles. These are roles paying 90k USD remote.

Honestly I don't even care. All the companies do now is send you data structures and algorithms tests regardless of what role you apply for so considering a career doesn't mean you will make it. My own goals is getting good at data structures first before anything else.

You could try the Canadian express entry system and the likes.
I'm a junior dev looking to land my first full time role, and I can tell you, within the next 3 years, I go don japa

Express entry has been suspended and before it was suspended, you needed like 480 points. Now you would definitely need like 500. The same Canada devs have gotten jobs there and there were sponsored. People are getting sponsored the Koko is data structures and algorithms. Once you can pass that you have unlocked a barrier to so many things

Well you're right, but the company I'm interviewing with currently, they gave me a take home test which I'm to submit in a month.
Afterward, a technical interview. I doubt it would be on DSA, I hope not. I haven't learnt a thing on DSA yet.
