@ Fake Pastor JoAgbaje, Open your bible and read these to know that the bible is not only about Tithes! Charity work is not 'Extra' is you termed it. It is your duty as a Christian. Anyway my God is different from the God Money you  serve.

“Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.” (Psalms 41:1-2 NKJV)

“He who despises his neighbor sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.” (Proverbs 14:21 NKJV)

“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was Unclad and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or Unclad and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” (Matthew 25:34-40 NKJV)

I don't rearly like replying those who talk foolishly like you but the scripture you quoted, how does it relate to the discussion? You should ask questions instead of trying to teach. You don't understand that passage dude

The charity in the church is primarily for it's members. Israel was a type if the church. And God has a welfare system among his people So the scripture you quoted is not relating to the relationship of the church to the world .

Israel is a "people of God" . There is a welfare system among them . The church is a people of God. There is a welfare system in the church likewise.

But what the church owes the world is the commission of the preaching of the gospel.

You are simply a typical greedy nigerian pastor. No shame, always money money money!!

All your posting in this forum always want to make me cry for my dear country. With religion leaders like you development is far far far from that land.

Christianity is not about charity but only about tithe and offering!! Pastor Joe standard.

There's no point arguing with people like you. My stand is based on scriptures

Proverbs 23:9
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

Nigerian churches all happen to be run by Nigerians who are all very greedy people. In Nigeria anybody in a position to take advantage of thier position especially when it comes to money that person would not hesitate. So our church leaders are no different from greedy politicians customs officials policemen landlords etc.

You know l wonder when people will realize that issues relating to the church are not such, that elicits every mouth eating from the pot. Making statements like " In Nigeria anybody in a position to take advantage of their position especially when it comes to money that person would not hesitate", seem to have your name included in the statistics so tell us are you greedy "too"? grin grin grin

Charity is an "extra" requirement, but Tithes and Offering are essential.

To make it simpler.  The Church GIVING is not compulsory but the Church Receiving is Important.

Fraudulent Tactics from Fraudulent individuals.

That Country is in perpetual Darkness because the people that knows the right thing just sticks to manipulation and deceit.

Young man nobody is arguing with the point you seem to be trying to be making but the point is you need to understand is that though the church can get involved with charitable donations and gestures, these good deeds are not the primary responsibility of the church "to the world" is to preach the gospel to them

Romans 1:9
"For l am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek"

Because what the world needs first of all is the gospel of salvation for their souls after which anything else can come in.
If the church must help or extend her arms charitably the bible points the direction in which that charity should be channeled which is ". . . to those who are of the household of faith. . ."

Galasians 6:10
"As we therefore opportunity, let us do good unto ALL [MEN]
, ESPECIALLY unto them who are of the household of faith"

I THINK EVERYTHING IS CLEARLY EXPLAINED IN THIS SCRIPTURE A BEG MAKE WE CUT ALL THE TU RAN CHI

^^^^^^ The poster asked a valid question. ''Why are nigeria churches so greedy'' and yes they are so greedy!!

Fake resident pastor Joe come remind us say Charity work na 'Extra'.

Was that the question?

That shows the difference between developing and developed countries and these churches have and missions may be churches in Nigeria have their own mission than giving to the poor. How many poor people have you helped so far before you blame the church.

To say that a church is not for charity is the silliest thing I ever heard on NL. Well I guess it's for profit making. I only pity the congregation that make up that pastor's church

Tithes and offerings belong to god,
Churches carry out missionary work all the time

Re: Why Are Nigerian Churches So Greedy? by manakeagie: 9:47am On Aug 25, 2011
My suggestion is we should condemn the acts of these people but ask our selves what have we done as individuals?
the church is you. you can provide a needy family with food, clothing even when you dont have much, and one thing you should is that not all churches are collecting Wealth but we should give credit that they have helped our society so much as far as rehabilitation in behavior is concerned ,
