First, man was not created an eternal being from his beginning - Genesis 2 vs 6 - 7 - as he was instead created from the physical claim of this world instead. Eternity had to be obtained.

Second, what scripture says is man had become like God, and not that man had become God. Recall that man was also created in the image of God. A likeness is not be confused with exactness.
