1.I doubt you would say this if you were the one financing and constructing the project.

2.No businessman goes into business with the aim of benefitting the masses financially...they go into the business with the aim of benefitting themselves, their shareholders, their families and themselves, and themselves. (Yes, I said it three times). Even their workers...they are paid to bring in more profit for themselves.

3.What you are asking for has been tried before...in most Communist countries...and at the end, the projects failed. There is no such thing as masses taking part in building a project that can benefit them. At the end of the day, the masses would want to buy stuff from the same industries fior cheap...and this leads to crap products which lead to more mess...because the masses won't pay the prices needed for any'people's company' to function profitably....and this leads to point no 4...

4.Capitaliism works because it guarantees a profit....which is used to pay for new improvements and new investments. Most of the consumer stuff we use...computers, phones, etc....were made possible by capitalist profits. Yes, we use computers that work better than the ones we had five years ago because greedy capitalists paid for more improvements to improve their profits.

That's why by the 1970's capitalist countries were far ahead of the communist countries...to a point where many communist countries could not catch up.

5.But you can still benefit from capitalsim...when the company starts sellingshares....BUY THEM.

At the end of the day, your ideas can never work because, unfortunately....people are greedy, and people love to be paid. If we built a masses company to build cars....you think the masses would be willing to pay N10 million for a car like the RAV 4 from that factory...no they will insist on paying N100000, for a people's car, and the company would end up making crap cars, for the masses, or lose so much money that it would close down, then we can blame the 'imperialists'.

How come it worked in China, how come it worked in Europe and America of old.

There industrialization process was powered by the masses. Most of their innovations were made by one man, inside his garage or house.

If practiced well it will work. The masses industrialised the world. The capitalist corrupted the system with their big money.

The masses must be giving an opportunity to participate in industrialization process in Nigeria.

China has been capitalist since at least the 1970's...plus it is not working there.. a large percentage of the people living there are living in poverty.

China changed the way they ran things in the late 1970's...otherwise they would have ended up like the USSR in the 1980's.

Again, it would never work. People work for their interest. Not yours.

Capitalism is not about having private business, but the greed behind it. Capitalist want to own and control everything. Eg face book, Microsoft, dangote.

That's the capitalism I am talking about.

LOL.....you don't understand what a private business is, or what it is for.

Private businesses don't want to control everything...as you can see Microsoft cannot control everything (Ubuntu OS and a host of free OS are around), Dangote does not control the cememt industy...not when BUA and company are there. And facebook is not the only social media company. (I don't even use facebook anymore.)

Private businesses are set up for the sole purpose of making more money for their owners...that includes the small boy or girl hawking things on the road to the big men and women like Dangote and Gates. They do not care about me or you...they want to make more money.

If you want goodies, the rule applies. Work for it. Don't expect goverment to set up businesses to dash you money. It does not work that way. It has never worked that way. cheesy

Imagine an open factory, wia anyone who has gone through training, can manufacture or produce there.

Wont it solve a problem?

Some black Smith's in the west make those big pots mama put women use with local tools.

If government/organizations build a morden factory for them to scale up and upgrade their product quality, what will u call that?

I mean an open factory for all of them to manufacture.. Will it work or not?

China is not pure capitalist.

It is a communist government running a capitalist economy...ever since Deng Tsiaoping changed the system in 1979. Plus nothing is run in china for the masses. Not when a large proportion of the populaiton is poor.

I support individuals owning business, but the masses should also have a chance to build and manufacture on their own.

Which some small private businesses do. Some people go into business manufacturing stuff. Sometimes those businesses become big companies.

Apple started out in someone's garage. It was one of many private computer makers that existed in the 1970's and 80's. It eventually became a big company.

No, every good thing is not owned by a big man. Most things are owned by a lot of small scale industries and businessmen and women.

The big men have the capital to set up large scale industries...which is why they appear to own everything.

Besides what you are suggesting is that the government seize big men's companes and force them to sell what they make at a loss to help the maases...It does not work because all the expertiese, equipment, materials, etc that someone like Dangote use to make their products are made by lots of small people....who want to be PAID....and part of the big man's profits ...goes into paying them

Besides, if you want to own part of big man's company.BUY SHARES. (That's how people like my late grandad made lots of money).

It will work.

It has never worked. Once upon a time, Soviet companies offered cheap products for many people...now those comapnes have become capitalist companies who want cash upfront. things cost money.

Same for chinese companies. Many of them want cash up front. No more free stuff...like the tan zam rail.

1.It won't work

3.It needs capital...that only capitlaism can provide...not govenrment

Let's talk about Nigerian companies..

How many companies in Nigeria have been built from their garages. The masses are not progressing in Nigeria.

Don't forget capitalist companies also fail and go broke.

Capitalist economies are not immuned to failure too.

Capitalism will fail in the future. The companies keep laying off people.. Their is population explosion in the world.

I don't think it will fail in Nigeria. The suffering is much, no body will miss such an opportunity.

You mean, if government for example. Provide mordern machines and cottage industries for local palm oil manufactures in our villages for them to scale up and mordenize, it will fail?

I doubt..

Or government teach them how to build these machines and also provide avenues for them to build the machines, they will throw the opportunity away.

Let's try it first..

We have the know how.. To be honest we don't have to know how at the beginning. We just have to put in efforts to learn. The whites also learnt.

Them Telling us we 'don't have the know how to manufacture' is pure colonial imperialist brain washing.

The colonial masters once claimed the India can't manufacture or produce any thing, but look at India today.

We don't have the know-how in manufacturing, because if we did Niger would have 24/7 electricity and good apprenticeship programme

Not all good companies start in garages. And using Apple...Apple was one of many private small computer makers. It lasted and grew for a good number of reasons that are beyond the scope of this discusssion.

Don't forget capitalist companies also fail and go broke.

Capitalist economies are not immuned to failure too.

Yes, which is why government abroad have good welfare projects...paid for by high tax to gdp ratios , unlike in Nigeria where, as at 2019, 70% of us don't pay tax to state and federal govts, and tax to gdp is 8.1% plus corruption and over relieance on oil is why we don't have a good safety net.

China's safety net too is failing and has been for a while.

I am no fan of capitalism...but it would last because people love to make money.

They have been saying capitalism would fail for decades...especially in the 1920's and 30's. Did not happen.

If Aba manufactures get cottage industries to enable them scale manufacturing, will it fail?

If Aba manufactures are tot how to manufacture parts and have access to tools and machines for manufacturing will it fail.

That's the system I am talking about, let the poor man also have is factory, refinery, biz, etc.

Lol, you haven't been in this country for long. Government companies have been tried. Government has even taken over many companies (Forte oil and conoil were once owned by British Petroleum and Shell respecitvely)....and it did not work.

You mean, if government for example. Provide mordern machines and cottage industries for local palm oil manufactures in our villages for them to scale up and mordenize, it will fail?

Yes because in ten years when it is time for upgrade...who will pay for it.? Government...or the new cottage industies.? Will they have to increase the prices of their products to pay for it or not?

You see the problems?

The East Germans did same thing...and when the iron curtain fell, many of these companies could not compete with Western companies. Out of date machinery, and so on.

The only way such companies can work is if government closes off the borders and stops imports. Not doable in today's world.

Or government teach them how to build these machines and also provide avenues for them to build the machines, they will throw the opportunity away.

What are our universities, polytechincs, and monotechinics for? Fun?

Plus the machines have to be built in a way that makes a profit...not government that would come and sell them at a loss and provide funding that is limited because 'they have too many obilgations.'

Let's try it first..

Yes, the poor man can have his refinery by getting a business proposal, getting a loan and building his refinery via loans

Even dangote refinery...70% of the money came from loans.

Plus refineries cost so much money that government cannot just give everyone who wants money a loan (plus, as experieince from government loaning money to farmers and businessmen over the years has shown, most of the loans don't get paid back).
