You took the advice that I gave you at the beginning of your relocation thread about seeing America through road-trips since SLC is a modest drive from many great places—I’m so thrilled! I’m happy you enjoyed Vegas and I laughed so when I saw how much you enjoyed Area 15. All men, even guys who say they hate Vegas, walk into Area 15 and lose themselves immediately as it’s so much to see and experience. Seems you guys enjoyed your trip and what makes me happy is that as a Nigerian, you’re getting out to see, learn, and experience instead of complaining about boredom and everything else. It’s hard for some outsiders to fathom but this is a great country and you’re learning and experience America the way it should be learned and experienced. I’m so happy to read about your experiences and can’t wait to see where your next road trip takes you.

The day I was driven to Kyoto, I almost cried. cry

No be lie. Tears nearly comot for my eyes.

Vegas is the gamble city of the world, it is notorious for that.

Errm, that is Macau. No one comes close to the Chinese in gambling. Vegas gets the rep because most of the world consume American media content since it is English. Visitors spent more in Macau than Las Vegas.

Reminds me of when I went to Amsterdam in 2015. Very interesting places and colourful experience. They are advanced to a fault. Nice one and thanks for sharing cool

It was so safe, the roads were good and well tarred, streetlights everywhere etc. The safety aspect is what really made me feel emotional because, you know say nothing go happen. Heck, you can even drive to the north of the country say Sapporo, and everything will be fine. Almost similar experience with OP but with differences in distance and activities performed.

From the hotel, one can easily see Area 15 but have no clue what goes on there.

Minor point of correction Sanchez.

Area 51 is way the phuck out in the Nevada Desert and is NOT within the city, regardless of what is written on that wall. Workers in that fabled top secret base where UFO craft are stored typically take flights from 'Vegas Macarran Airport to Area 51 and Groom Lake which are again NOT in the city of Vegas.

I spent a total of $2,100.

1. $1,006.82 on hotel for 4 nights
2. Roughly $280 on gas both on the road and in Vegas.
3. $120 in tips (I made a grave mistake of tipping valets $10 every time when it should be between $2-$5. I'll rant about this in my diary.
4. The rest on buffet and tickets to access those places in the pictures.

1.5 million naira cheesy

Yeah, Japan is one of the safest country in the world, I'll say if compared to the US, the US is like a war zone but one other thing is that the level of advancement is off the chart.

I think you're mistaken. There is the REAL AREA 51 meant for the US Air Force and it is highly classified and then there is Area 15 pretty much a sci-fi-ish area. I'd like to believe Area 15 is a copy of Area 51. Both are in Nevada but Area 15 is in Vegas, just a couple of minutes away from the Strip.

So they have plantains in the abroad? Like you can walk into a shop and request for plantains?

Octopus is calamari?
Yes! A lot of the buffets in SLC here have plantains and they are bigger than the sheets we have in Nigeria. Calamari is squid. cheesy

I actually thought you were joking when you told me, so you can imagine my suprise to find out aunty even added jollof rice to the mix. Typical Nigerian woman. She reminds me of me cheesy cheesy
grin grin grin

I won't lie, I was shocked. She had a travel bag for her turning stick, garri, frozen Afang soup, freshly cooked jollof rice and fried turkeys. The way and manner she unpacked in the room's kitchenette ehn, I just couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Americans don't eat pepper. You can comfortably use what they call "spicy food" to rub your eyes and nothing will happen grin. That has been her problem from day one. grin

So that means you can have your normal dodo and palm oil beans abi? cheesy

I'm usually suspicious of any fruit or vegetable that is larger than normal. Are the plantains 💯 organic?

Get yourself electric car mehn!!!

Anyway, whats their unit price for fuel over there.
I hate electric cars with every fiber of my being and so do a lot of people. They are mostly declared a total loss after an accident compared to conventional cars, except it is a dent. I have seen Teslas break down on roads and even saw one en route to Vegas. My best guess would be battery-ish. There is nothing fascinating about electric cars. I am never getting one except Utah laws phase out gas cars.

You no be small guy if you sabi balewa... Balewa no be for Gen Z.... Agba! 🙌

Sanchez01:
I hate to admit but visiting the 7 magic mountains was not necessary. I was disappointed because the whole thing looked like coloured, stacked balewas. Driving from Salt Lake City straight there was longer than driving straight to the hotel. The distance between both was about 35 minutes on a single. Vegas is an extremely hot city. EXTREMELY HOT!

What is this, Ishi? grin grin grin

We eat palm oil beans and dodo steady. I know there are and I have seen fruits and vegetables that are bigger than newborn babies but not plantains. We buy from Mexican stores and that's because Mexicans are typically Nigerians that are just light-skinned. They eat peppers like we do and prefer organic fruits and vegetables.

Vegas is cool at this period of the year you visited though. That said, it is less humid, so it is preferred to Houston hotness for me.
Vegas was too hot for me. I think it is safe to say I am unconsciously adapting to and prefer cold. The only place in Vegas that eased the burning heat was the hotel room.

Not sure because I haven't been to the North of Nigeria. I do know one thing though; temperatures in the US are usually not normal. They are either too hot that people walk around topless (mostly males).

Has the salt melt away ... how come you never stopped at the real salt lake to take the pic of the lake that dried up
The Great Salt Lake is drying up. That said, I have never been there before and I doubt I'd want to go. Visiting and staring at a lake, ocean or river isn't exactly my thing. If I am not fishing or swimming in it, I consider it to be a waste of free time.
